There is a long explanation on why you can't do that now. Just use Sound Editor to remove all the gaps and to create one long music "mix" by exporting the result to a file. You can then burn that to the CD.

The "long" explanation is that the length of each track needs to end on a block boundary to avoid those little gaps. I don't know where you're getting your tracks from, but you need to use an editor that handles prepping files for burning to CD.
What happens is this... each block on an Audio CD holds 2352 bytes, or 1/75th second of music. Each track has to start on a new block. If the previous song ends half-way, or even two bytes into its last block, the rest of the block gets filled with silence (zeros), then the next song starts with the new block, causing a very short, but often very audible bit of silence.
When I'm transferring from an LP, I use CDWAVE to split out the individual files. It automatically cuts the tracks on block boundaries, and when I write in DAO mode, there's no gap. I honestly don't know if Sound Editor handles cutting tracks "properly" or not, I haven't checked, but I will. I think GoldWave has a similar feature you can turn on too.
Hope that helps!

Yes, but does it ensure that the track length is a multiple of 2352 to fill the last block? (Not the file length, which includes header information, but the actual data portion.)

I have no clue on the 2352. All I know is it worked fine for me, but then again, I am not all that fussy. I do like a bit of silence between tracks.
