The installation of EMC 8.05 went smoothly. However, when I start the Easy Media Creator Suite, I get an error message as follows: "The InstallScript Engine on this machine is older than the version required to run this setup. If available, please install the latest version of ISScript.msi, or contact your support personnel for further assistance." I have Windows Installer 3.1 v.2 installed on this machine and I have version 8 of ISScript.msi installed, yet the error message continues to pop up. Interestingly, when I open an application from the Media Center, I also get the error, but the application seems to work fine.

Hi Mikesev,
try this......
Setup Is Unable To Find or Update ISScript.msi
Problem
During installation, you may get an error message regarding the IsScript engine. The following are some of the common error messages encountered with the IsScript engine:

Cannot find IsScript.msi
The version of IsScript.msi is old
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'IsScript.Msi' in the box below.
More Information
The above error messages are system specific and often caused by some sort of corruption on your computer. In addition to the solution provided below, it is recommended that users acquire administrative privileges on their computers if running the setup on Windows NT 4.0, 2000 or XP.

Fix
To fix this issue, you need to determine the version number of the IsScript engine you need, download it, and install it.

Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver from the machine.
Right-click on the installation file that you are trying to install and select Properties.
The typical names for installation files are setup.exe, update.exe, installer.exe, etc.
Your installation file can be found on the CD where you are running the setup from.
In the Properties dialog, click on the Version tab.

Look at the File Version field to determine the version number of the IsScript engine you need:
If the file version number is 2.0x or less, download the IKernel engine and install it on your computer.
Download IkernelUpdate.exe
Once downloaded, double-click it. This installs the IKernel engine, which should fix the issue.
If the file version number starts with 7, download the following ISScript.msi file and install it on your computer.
Download IsScript7x.zip
Unzip the above file using the WinZip utility.
Double-click the IsScript.msi file. This installs the IsScript engine, which should fix the issue.
If the file version number starts with 8, download the following IsScript8.msi file and install it on your computer.
Download IsScript8.zip
Unzip the above file using the WinZip utility.
Double-click the IsScript8.msi file. This installs the IsScript engine, which should fix the issue.
If the file version number starts with 9, download the following IsScript9.msi file and install it on your computer.
Download IsScript9.zip
Unzip the above file using the WinZip utility.
Double-click the IsScript9.msi file. This installs the IsScript engine, which should fix the issue.

I have a very stubborn problem installing Easy Media Creator 8, P/N 150155-02 on a home computer with XP SP2. I get the message that "Installscript engine is missing. Install isscript.msi etc."

I have full administrator rights. The Creator 8 setup.exe version is 2.1.85.0.

I installed Windows Installer 3.1 v2. No help, still get the same message.

I have deleted the driver file from C:\program files\install shield\ and then installed Ikernelupdate.exe.
I still get the error above.

Then I tried installing isscript.msi. I get Error 1406 that I do not have administrator rights, but I do have full rights. I've even tried setting up a new administrator identity on the computer and then tried to install isscript.msi. I get the same Error 1406.

There's nothing more to try in the Roxio forums, Install Shield support or Windows knowledge base.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
