I was successfully using Roxio 8.05 to edit TV movies recorded on a Sony VAIO.

Suddenly 8.05 started displaying an error code "80040207 Error while Encoding Movie" and would not encode or burn the project.

The error page showed Overall progress (100%) and Current task: Completed (100%), but that response was almost immediate, apparently not allowing time to perform the encoding operation.

I purchased Roxio 9.0 to see if the new software would “cure” or work as desired. It also shows the same error code.

Does anyone have an idea what needs to be changed or fixed in my computer to get the problem resolved?

Thanks:

Melvin

Hi Melvin
I am having exactly the same problem except that my one didn't appear after a period but has been there since installation 3 days ago.

I was using my dvd le wich came bundled with my new dell pc and decided to upgrade to creator 9 because I wanted to make slide shows. Since then I encounter this error every time I try to burn a dvd. my original software still works fine thankfully.

Like yourself I have had little luck in resolving this problem and would be grateful if you inform me of any progress you make, as I will keep you updated of any info I might get.

You will want to go to ATI's website and do a search for the Manufacturer and chip type. What are you system specs? You may want to look in the other post as someone had the same issue and solved it by just defragging their system.

Thanks Guys I got the Disk to burn. Now my next misson is to get my picture slide show to last as long as my tracks. I have 5 tracks with 80 pictures and the tracks outlast the pictures. Are there any links out there to help me with this?

I see that Melvin and Gasman are/were having the same problem as I am currently with encoding error while making a movie. Were either of you able to resolve this issue? I have been having that problem since November 15 without any resolution from Roxio or Dell.

Please let me know what you have been able to achieve.

Thanks,

Eugene

I have managed to first burn to the hard drive then use the Copy DVD module to copy to a disc.

I have yet to see a fix where the edit DVD module can burn directly to a disc.

Mel, thanks for your reply.

I am still trying to get the EMC8.05 to work the way it did before (on a Windows XP2 Home edition), editing-encoding a video and burning a dvd in one swoop - to do the same thing on an upgraded (Windows XP Pro\WMCE.

I was able to complete this task last night importing a video from my camcorder using Windows Movie Maker and then importing the movie into EMC8 to create a dvd. This worked flawlessly without any hiccup. Now my question is why would this process work using Windows Movie Maker as the primary movie editing tool and not Roxio's?

Can anyone help me to understand why I would need to use a different program to achieve a task which Roxio's EMC8 did completely before?

Eugene

HI,

Following the latest update of IE7, like all users of EMC7.5, I had to install EMC9. Now, all the work that had been prepared under EMC7.5 cannot be burned to DVD. The error code 80040207 appeared.

Also, I tried to capture a new video and realise that Capture issues an "error unknown" and does not capture anything. The mpeg file generated is emplty.

I am turning in cercle and do not seem to see the end of it. Even reverting to EMC7.5 would be a better solution then continuing the actual quest for a jewel that seems out of reach.

Any help and suggestion would be appreciated.
