After spending two days on trying to get the EMC 9 software installed with several hours on the phone with Tech Support, I finally got the installation to complete. However, when I try to launch MyDVD or MyDVD express either one, it tells me that it needs to install the MPEG-2 codecs and when I click on Yes, a window soon pops up that says Sonic Activation Module 1.0 has detected a previous version of Sonic Activation Module that must be uninstalled before the operation can be complete. I select YES and a setup window pops up and after several minutes the same message about Sonic Activation Module 1.0 encountering a previous version pops up. I have run all the hot fixes that are available, don't have any idea as to how to find and delete the previous version as I have already previously cleared my drives of anything and everything that had to do with Roxio or Sonic. The Tech Rep I was on the phone with today said that he had exhausted all that he had knowledge of and would turn the ticket over to Tech Support. From what I could understand every problem that anyone has ever had trying to install EMC 9 shows up on my machine all at once! HELP ANYONE! I would really like to be able to get back to creating some DVD's and hate to have to uninstall all this and try to go back to the Sonic MyDVD 6.0+ as I fear I will have issues with installing it also.

Try doing a clean install of the software following the instructions on the link below.

Then do exactly the same thing as Preet suggested
Also - you posted to a thread that is eight months old and the OP never came back so it would appear to actually work

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
