when I try to burn a file to the burner, my system (Windows XP) locks up.  I have to power off to shut down. my drives do not work unless I boot-up with the disc in the drive.  both the dvd and the writer work that way.  so I thought it might be because Roxio LE is preinstalled.  I want to know if I need to uninstall the LE to use the EMC 8.3 that i paid $59.00 for because they offered me a discount because I registered the LE version.

If your version of LE has Drag to Disc installed with EMC8 Drag to Disc that will cause a problem like you're experiencing.  Or, any other packet writing program.  However, since EMC8 is full version, you'd not be losing anything by completely removing LE....it's up to you.
