MyDVD 9 stops while I start the process of burning the project. On the menu bar, selected TOOLS, VALIDATE PROJECT, after which a pop-up message states "no problems were found in the project. " Then selected both options for *burn to disc and *save disc to image file". After pressing the button "burn" (in the "Burn Project" pop-up, "Over-all progress" shows "0%" and also "Current task: encoding movie: 0%" with an "encoding preview" black box. Last night I left the process for four hours but nothing happened.

This morning I attempted to burn a five minute movie using MyDVD9. An unsuccessful attempt for nth time.

Here's the "Burn Log" for today's "Burn" attempt:

A sidenote here: Can use Videowave to edit/view/save my production, also with MyDVD in previewing project prior to burning. Can burn CD and DVD using Roxio EMC9 disc copier and other related features except burning MyDVD project. The issue is not my dvd writer here.

I have the exact same HP model. So far haven't had any problems. Which model burner? I have the 840b and there is a new firmware update which would probably help.
Get it here if you have teh same model

Also what type of files are in the project? A lot of rendering problems can be caused by corrupted video files or non-standard files.

Seen the part I've highlighted before. Solved it by installing the latest Nvidia drivers. If you already have the latest, uninstall them, reboot, reinstall them. This should cause EMC 9 (when you open MyDVD or Videowave) to "re-configure" itself for you video card, and the rendering should work.

There's nothing wrong with my burner as I have been using it with previous EMC suite 7.5. It works just fine. But have looked into the HP site re: driver and software dowdloads. Thanks for the advice. Will post update later.

You were right. Yesterday I downloaded the latest driver for Nvidia GeForce 7300LE. Just followed the instruction for installation. Then, I tested MyDVD9 with a five-minute movie. The program completed the task in a breeze. Tonite, I was able to burn a project using dual layer disc on high quality which took 7.6gig on a menu/video aspect of 16:9. Have tested on a set top DVD player and the disc played without any problem. Prior to that, also tested/played my "finished" DVD disc on my computer using Roxio's CinePlayer which prompted me to register the product (and I did).

Also the rendering problem encountered when I made slideshows was solved, too.

Based on this experience, the problem emanates not from the program (MyDVD9), which on the first place I did not suspect to be the culprit. As with my experience with Roxio's EMC 7.5 suite, I am looking forward to completing productive projects.

Many tx Larry. And also to ggrussell.
