I thought it might be easier to first dub from a VHS tape to my dvd recorder. Then, I wanted to capture selected parts into my computer. However, I am stunned to find that none of the applications I have, Roxio or anything else seem to want to capture video from my produced DVD that I have finalized in my DVD recorder.

Have I missed something, or do I have to find another product to capture video from a DVD? Obviously I am not talking about something that is copy protected here.

Thanks,

Bruce

Unfortunately, not all DVD recorders record the same type of files.

You could try renaming the files as covered at the bottom of this post here. However, that might not work.

Please be aware that "capture" normally involves grabbing data from a device such as a camera or a Dazzle device.

Could it be that you are trying to "import" the files from a DVD, so you're looking at the wrong controls?

Tried the renaming to no avail. Ended up taking the recorder back to the store since I felt that was one of the things I should be able to do with such a product.
