While burning a 7.7 gb movie to a DL disk, I also had it create an .iso file so I could make another copy faster. (It's a 1h 50m high-quality rendering.) The DVD came out very well and plays nicely on the TV.
However, the program would not let me write the iso file to another DL DVD, even though there would still be another 700mb free space. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work, since I then did another direct project burn to that same disk.
With a lot more to do double copies of, using an iso file would save time (at least I think it should.)

p.s. EMC9 realy is better than 8 for home movie cproductions, but it sure slows down my DELL 2350 drastically, even with 1gb of RAM (max for this model.)

"....the program would not let me write the iso file to another DL DVD, even though there would still be another 700mb free space....".

I was a little confused when you said in part "another" DL DVD, and then followed saying you had some 700mb of free space left. You are correct in my experience, that burning an ISO file for a DVD does take less time. When you burned the first copy to disk, did you have both boxes checked in the burn options ? (burn to disk & also burn to an ISO file). That does take quite a while for sure it that was the case. If you have several DVD's to burn, I suggest it's just a lot simpler to only burn to an ISO file to your hard drive and then go back and burn the several DVD's using the ISO file. If it's just one DVD you want and then later decide to want to burn another one you can always use the "copy DVD" option in the program.

BTW, there are several other things that can slow down your computer even though you have a gig of ram. Just as an example, have you used the "restore" function quite a few times ? That can deplete your available resources depending on the number you have saved.

Thanks for your reply, Frank. I did have both boxes checked, and it created an ISO file at the same time as the DL DVD. Since the ISO file was exactly the same size as on the created disk, EMC9 should have let me easily copy it later to a new DVD, but it wouldn't. My mention of the 700mb of free space was to show that the file was not too big for a 8.4gb disk, even allowing for overhead.
Regards,
Richard

Are you able to mount the image, to test if it's corrupted?
Did you try using Main Menu, Disc Copier and Creator Classic to burn the image file?
Are you getting any error message?
