Where/how are you adding the background audio file?
This may take a little detective work. Here are two things to try that should not be difficult or time consuming. Of course if it is one image or music file, tracking down the right one may be difficult.
What is the source of those wav files? Try using Sound Editor to reformat those. Open Sound Editor, add the music and then export them as wav files. Sometimes that helps. Although wav should be wav, it will only take a minute to do this. I know this works with other music formats like mp3.
Also, there are many types of jpegs. I know that VideoWave will not use them all. What program did you use to get the jpegs on your computer? For instance I know that, using PhotoShop if you save an image as a TIF with jpeg compression, VideoWave cannot use that. Again with PhotoShop, Jpeg images can be baseline, baseline optimized or progressive. In PhotoSuite, you can save them as interlaced or not interlaced. Perhaps they are one of the formats that the program doesn't like. You might try using Photosuite to open those images and then re-saving them as jpgs.

You're using the Slideshow Assistant, are you?
Anyway, have you tried playing the second selected music all by itself (that is, double clicking that music file in Explorer and hopefully the WMP plays it or whatever application you assign to play it)? Does it play music without problem?

I've got the same problem ...the exact same error! Help!
I've tried all of the sound files. They all work in the sound editor and in the "add audio track area".
I can create the slideshow without sound audio files so I know the JPEG's are fine. However when I go to add the audio tracks I get an error message on analysing.
There was one time where I managed to get past this, but then it hung on encoding when I was trying to burn the DVD.
(I was wondering if my computer is the issue. The DVD I'm trying to create would be about 1.7 GB in size so there should be enough room on the DVD. I have 2.0GHZ processor, 1GB Ram, and 40 GB free on my hard drive.)

Hi Anniemac!
I actually don't have any text on my images so that isn't the reason I'm experiencing difficulty.
I did find something that has helped reduce the number of times I am experiencing this error. That was to take all my music files and use sound editor to join them together and create one large .wav file.
It seems strange to me that the "recommended" file format is .wav when .wav takes so much more hard drive space.
However that seems ot have helped somewhat.

I have the same problem as Anniemac and Mirrikat. I also get the "Failed to analyze media file(s)..." error. My situation is that I used Slideshow Assistant to put together a 240 photo (jpegs) slideshow with 7 audio tracks (mp3s). I had no problems the first time and I saved the slideshow and burnt a 4 GB DVD (again with no problems). I then decided I wanted to shorten the slideshow by taking out one of the audio tracks. I reopened the slideshow file in the Slideshow Assistant, deleted one of the audio tracks and then tried to save the new slideshow. Wouldn't save and I kept getting the "Failed to analyze..." error message. Any help resolving this would be great, otherwise it seems that I will need to recreate the entire slideshow with one less audio track.
Another likely unrelated problem that I am having is that when I open EMC 9 and click on Media Experience, it doesn't open it just takes me back to the same initial EMC 9 screen - could another media program like iTunes be creating this problem? I only mention this to see if it is a related problem.

Me too. The pattern here seems to be any audio track manipulation (addition/deletion), post-initial project save, appears to result in this error. Although I too can deal with this (albeit way more awkwardly) in Videowave, I'd prefer to do this from the slideshow assistant because of its quick/easy wizard. This is a clear bug in the slideshow assistant utility and I'd like to know when/if Roxio is going to fix it.
As an aside, I find it awkward to add fading in the overlapped audio tracks in Videowave; I followed the help text on this (selecting adjust volume and selecting fade in/out), but this didn't seem to identify the complete process. In particular I still needed to enter audio envelope mode in order to add volume "vertices" followed by manually manipulating these to ramp the volume... Am I doing something wrong here?
Thx.
