While trying to review my slideshow using Creator 9 software I received the following criptic message: "Failed to analyze media file(s). One or more of the files you have selected may be upsupported or corrupt." There is no indication of what file or files have been corrupted. I am able to preview pictures the first time and the production analyzer works but when I add more than one background audio file it won't work. I uninstalled Creator 7 software and installed Creator 9 software thinking this would resolve my problem but it hasn't. My photos are jpeg and my audio files are wav. Both of these formats are supported in Easy Media Creator 9. I am getting very frustrated and need HELP! Can anyone give me suggestions on how to pin-point the problem or problem areas?

Where/how are you adding the background audio file?

This may take a little detective work.  Here are two things to try that should not be difficult or time consuming.  Of course if it is one image or music file, tracking down the right one may be difficult.

What is the source of those wav files?  Try using Sound Editor to reformat those.  Open Sound Editor, add the music and then export them as wav files.  Sometimes that helps.  Although wav should be wav, it will only take a minute to do this.  I know this works with other music formats like mp3.

Also, there are many types of jpegs.  I know that VideoWave will not use them all.  What program did you use to get the jpegs on your computer?  For instance I know that, using PhotoShop if you save an image as a TIF with jpeg compression, VideoWave cannot use that.  Again with PhotoShop, Jpeg images can be baseline, baseline optimized or progressive.   In PhotoSuite, you can save them as interlaced or not interlaced.  Perhaps they are one of the formats that the program doesn't like.  You might try using Photosuite to open those images and then re-saving them as jpgs.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

While I am in "Creating a slideshow" there is an area to "add background audio". The photos do not seem to be the problem. Once I add a second music track and then try to preview the slideshow the production fails to be analyzed and ultimately indicates that I have "Failed to analyze media file(s). One or more of the files you have selected may be unsupported or corrupt." The first music track works, is analyzed with no problem and it is only when I add a second music track that I experience the problem. All my music files are wav. Do you know of a Roxio site that could review this problem with me that have techical support people available? Thanks for your input.

You're using the Slideshow Assistant, are you?

Anyway, have you tried playing the second selected music all by itself (that is, double clicking that music file in Explorer and hopefully the WMP plays it or whatever application you assign to play it)? Does it play music without problem?

Yes, I am using the Slideshow Assistant. I can play the music track that I am trying to use in the slideshow with WMP without a problem. Only when I add the second music track in the slideshow am I experiencing problems.

I've got the same problem ...the exact same error!  Help!

I've tried all of the sound files.  They all work in the sound editor and in the "add audio track area".

I can create the slideshow without sound audio files so I know the JPEG's are fine.  However when I go to add the audio tracks I get an error message on analysing.

There was one time where I managed to get past this, but then it hung on encoding when I was trying to burn the DVD.

(I was wondering if my computer is the issue.  The DVD I'm trying to create would be about 1.7 GB in size so there should be enough room on the DVD.  I have 2.0GHZ processor, 1GB Ram, and 40 GB free on my hard drive.)

Mirrikat: I finally pin-pointed my problem. In Slideshow Assistant you can add multiple photos (Jpeg in my case) and multiple background audio (wave sound in my case), however, the data on the photo gets corrupted when you add text to it while you are in Slideshow Assistant. Once I removed all the photos that had text on them the production analyzed without a hitch! In talking with Roxio technical support they recommended that you put the text on the photo using Photosuite and then add it to the Slideshow Assistant. I'll try that myself today. I don't know why "help" doesn't warn you about possible corrupt data if you try to add text while in Slideshow Assistant. For that matter why do they have the text button there at all? Hope this works for you.

Hi Anniemac!

I actually don't have any text on my images so that isn't the reason I'm experiencing difficulty.

I did find something that has helped reduce the number of times I am experiencing this error.  That was to take all my music files and use sound editor to join them together and create one large .wav file.

It seems strange to me that the "recommended" file format is .wav when .wav takes so much more hard drive space.

However that seems ot have helped somewhat.

I can only guess it is a similar situation with DV AVI vs MPEG.  WAV is not compressed so it is much easier and faster to work with those files. Other formats like MP3 maybe smaller, but have to be uncompressed in memory before they can edited or changed. This takes CPU power.

I have the same problem as Anniemac and Mirrikat.  I also get the "Failed to analyze media file(s)..." error.  My situation is that I used Slideshow Assistant to put together a 240 photo (jpegs) slideshow with 7 audio tracks (mp3s).  I had no problems the first time and I saved the slideshow and burnt a 4 GB DVD (again with no problems).  I then decided I wanted to shorten the slideshow by taking out one of the audio tracks.  I reopened the slideshow file in the Slideshow Assistant, deleted one of the audio tracks and then tried to save the new slideshow.  Wouldn't save and I kept getting the "Failed to analyze..." error message.  Any help resolving this would be great, otherwise it seems that I will need to recreate the entire slideshow with one less audio track.

Another likely unrelated problem that I am having is that when I open EMC 9 and click on Media Experience, it doesn't open it just takes me back to the same initial EMC 9 screen - could another media program like iTunes be creating this problem? I only mention this to see if it is a related problem.

EdB...I had the same problem and solved it by using media manager to add my audio to my slideshow production. I have a slideshow, using slideshow assistant, that is over 650 slides and 14 audio tracks. I could only add 6 audio tracks through the slideshow assistant. At the page where you can save your slideshow production I went into media manager and added all my music without a hitch. The only problem with this is that, if I add photos or more text to my slideshow, I have to go back in and add the audio tracks each time refine my slideshow. I need to do this because I am using the "dissolve" transitions and cannot get the same transition using the media manager. Roxio doesn't make our lives very easy. Do they????

Me too. The pattern here seems to be any audio track manipulation (addition/deletion), post-initial project save, appears to result in this error. Although I too can deal with this (albeit way more awkwardly) in Videowave, I'd prefer to do this from the slideshow assistant because of its quick/easy wizard. This is a clear bug in the slideshow assistant utility and I'd like to know when/if Roxio is going to fix it.

As an aside, I find it awkward to add fading in the overlapped audio tracks in Videowave; I followed the help text on this (selecting adjust volume and selecting fade in/out), but this didn't seem to identify the complete process. In particular I still needed to enter audio envelope mode in order to add volume "vertices" followed by manually manipulating these to ramp the volume... Am I doing something wrong here?

Thx.
