Hi,
Would someone be kind enough to either point me to a tutorial, or walk me through the Custom Encoding options for taking an avi file and burning it to dvd?
I just did one last night, but the resulting image is too large to fit on a SL-DVD.
I dropped my avi into Toast's Video tab, selected DVD-Video, No Menus, Auto Play on Insert, Custom Encoding: Motion Estimation - Best, Half-PEL - Yes, Dual Layer (above the Record button). Nothing else.
Then I chose Save As Disk Image, then I mounted the image, dropped it into Toast's Data tab, selected DVD-ROM, and DVD (from the Record button), and it tells me there isn't enough space on the disc.
Obviously, I didn't compress the image enough. I've heard something about a 'fit-to-dvd' option, but I can't find it.
Here's the details on the file:

A video of that length should have fit a single-layer disc without moving the custom bitrate settings from the default as long as you also kept the default Dolby Digital audio setting. But since it didn't, to burn the disc image use the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window. Toast mounts the image automatically. You select the image file itself, not the mounted disc image. You'll see there that the Fit-to-DVD option is checked on by default.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!
