I purchased Toast 7.0 and have not been able to burn DVD's since installing. I'm using a PowerMac Mac Mini G-4, 1.42 GHz, OS 10.4.8, I GHz of memory and MatshitaCD-RW CW8124 DVD unit. All was well until I did the installation. Toast reads the DVD and ejects the DVD once it has been read. It then asks for me to insert a recordable disk. Next, it ejects it. I've tried several different type disks and set it for different record speeds.

I have also tried downloading the Updarte to 7.1 and there is nothing in the Mac Folder

I have 7.1 and I can not burn CDs on my Powerbook G4 using 10.4.8. I can burn DVDs. I will post my solution when I find it. I think a lot of people must have this problem. I am able to burn CDs using the FINDER.

Try downloading and apply Apple's 10.4.8 Combined System Update to see if that corrects what went wrong during the incremental update. Glitches with incremental updates are not uncommon.
