Can emc 8 capture stills from a home movie DVD? If so, how?!

It sure can, if your video file is on your hard drive.  Open Media Manager or VideoWave.  Browse to your video file, right click on it, select Extract Image, play the video until it gets to the image that you want to extract, hit the pause button, then click on Extract Image, save it to whatever folder you set up for it.  Save it as whatever file extension, in the list,  that you want.
