Hi ,
I am using EMC8 to create music dvd.  Music DVD (media is DVD+RW) created successfully and can play fine on my PC.  But cannot be played on my home set-top dvd player.  I also checked after some testing, it's not DVD+RW  compatability since I can play DVD video (on set-top player) whicn is created on the same DVD-RW using another DVD authoring program.

How to resolve, is it Roxio burning engine problem.  I alreayd applied EMC8 v8.05 update.

Any help appreciated.

Thx,
Jacks

Try a +R or -R DVD disc.  It won't cost much to try.

Jacks, having made quite a few of these I can tell you that the hardest part is getting them to burn successfully in the first place.Once you do they should work.Basically they are just a DVD without video and music as the soundtrack (basic explanation but not far off).
If you can play a DVD you made with the same kind of media on the same player you should be able to play that Music DVD.What is happening when you try and play it on the set-top dvd player?Does it recognize the disc at all?

Tbrewst,
Thanx for ur reply.
Yes,set-top player recognises it as a valid DVD disc, displaying PLAY(fraction of a second) on front panel LED display and then immediately shows STOP on LED display.
Another strange thing I found is, from the original compilation(compilation space : 4GB) when Iremoved many tracks to reduce complation space (let's say now compilation space is ~ 700MB,i.e. about 3 folders eah having about 15~20 MP3 songs) and then prepare MusicDVD. Then set-top plays w/o any problems.

Since I want to sqeeze in as many as MP3 files to fill-up Music DVD.    What could be wrong ??  BTW, I also tried using DVD-R, DVD+r, more than 3 disc got spoilt like this..

Thx,
Jacks

Another suggestion I might make is to use as little Smart Objects and Smart Menu Objects as possible and see if that makes a diffeence. The first time I got one to work I cut them back to a minimum and all was well.
The best I can advise is to just keep experimenting till you come up with a combination that works well for you.Keep trying the R/W's while you do and then once you're fairly sure you have a good combination make the keepers on + or - discs.Another thing you might try is using a different format for the output. There are 3 different ones.
I've made them with upwards of 400 tracks so I know it can be done.Good luck.

Terry,
thx for ur inputs.  But what I would like to know is this a bug ?  Since smart objects is something great I found in this s/w.  No ohter audio dvd creator in the market got such a nice navigation features.  This is one of the reason I am trying hard to make it work.. Can u suggest what smart objects u had chooses in ur working configuration.  So far testing, I guess it definitely points to the problem with Roxio software not any compatibility issue.

any further suggestions are welcome..

Thx,
Jack
