It seems that Toast 7 will not play/burn audio when making a DVD from an AVI if the AVI has AC3 audio formatting.

Any way around this?

Thanks.

QT doesn't support DivX with AC3, therefore Toast will not work.  You need a AC3 component installed.  You can download one from insaneness.com.  However, Apple broke the CODEC in QT 7.0.2, so you need to go back to QT 7.0.1 or wait for Apple to fix it.

It'll be a long wait until Apple fixes it. Someone else has though;

Yes, the updated CODEC does work with Toast by the way.

if you don't need to keep the audio in a somewhat large AC3 format, there's a good program called mAC3dec that is free and can be downloaded from all major osx download sites such as versiontracker.  It will convert AC3 files to many formats including mpeg layer 3 and mpeg-4 audio as well as other formats such as the larger and lossless? AIFF, and could significantly reduce file sizes (especially if lower bitrates can be tolerated)

It goes in the Root>Library>Quicktime folder. You'll see other codecs there.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!

Thank you! Of course, obvious place, why didn't I think of that one. Anyway, do we still need it now that QuickTime 7.0.4 has seen the light? Haven't updated it yet, got burned before...

Quicktime 7.0.4 should have the fix for the original 0.2 version of the CODEC.
