Hello everyone, I have searched the forums and all over the web for a solution to this problem. I hope you can help me.
In mydvd or videowave or in just plain old windows explorer, my mpeg2 video files from my sony handycam dcr-sr100 hdd camcorder just show generic mpg icons when viewing as thumbnails. They don't show a preview image of the movie. Other people on the web have this problem. Some have been able to solve it, but their fixes didn't work for me.
Does anyone know what this might be caused by?
Thanks, Eric

Which software do you have and what version?
If you have EMC8 or EMC9, you should be able to right click on the thumbnail to see a Preview of the mpg file.
In thumbnail mode, the icon is a film reel with the word MPEG.

I have the same problem, only some of my mpeg2s show an image and others show the film reel in thumbnail view. I have EMC7, and right clicking didn't bring up a preview. What fixes did you find on the net?

mssbee - please post in the appropriate V7 forum. Your problem IS NOT the same. The original poster was talking about thumbnails OUTSIDE of the program like in Windows Explorer.
Eric - Since the thumbnail preview doesn't show in Windows Explorer, I doubt if it is a problem with EMC9. I would suggest looking at Microsoft's knowledge base.

Sorry your post wasn't clear. Sounded like you were talking about within EMC 7 application. If you are having trouble with Windows Explorer thumbnail previews, then check out Microsoft's knowledge base.

Just checking my computer in Windows Explorer and have it set for "Thumb Nails" view, and this is what I get when I look at an mpg versus an avi file. Again, I am referring to XP and Windows Explorer, NOT EMC.
