Hi! Could use a little advice about this. I have had Roxio EasyMediaCreator 9(full install) on my computer for a couple of months and just installed WMP 11. I previously had WMP 10 which seemed to have no problems with EMC 9--both worked fine but since I put on WMP 11, whenever I try to use it to play a video(commerical movies that I own), I get a popup box which says "Sonic CinePlayer Decoder Pack" is being installed--please insert your RoxioEMC 9 disk" etc. When I do, it apparently tries to install the decoder pack, can't--"error attempting to read the .msi file". Sometimes it also says "a network error occurred while attempting to read from the file 903e6.msi". After a couple of tries and me hitting cancel button, the popup goes away. In any case, the movies play fine. This doesn't make any sense-- I never got these popups using WMP 10 to watch movies. I had never tried using EMC 9 to watch a video but I just tried it and that doesn't work--screen turns black, locks up. I don't understand any of this--I guess something in WMP 11 conflicts with EMC 9. But WMP 11 plays the videos--it apparently doesn't need the EMC 9 CinePlayer decoder pack., so why does it keep trying to install. And why does it think it's not installed--I installed everything. Can anyone suggest why this is happening or what can be done?

Please dont post in 2 different forums, its confusing for other users.
Also, try creating a new user account (make sure it is an administrator account) and then install under the new account and test operations there.

O.K. Sorry about the double postings. Do you mean a new Windows admin. account? I have Windows XP Home on a single computer.

I haven't run into this on the one system with EMC9 and WMP11. Maybe you can try a repair install of EMC9 and see if that clears things up.
Thanks--tried the reapir install but no difference.

Problem solved! I removed EMC 9, removed all left over references to it in Windows Explorer and the registry and reinstalled. No more popups about trying to install Cineplayer decoder pack and movies now play using EMC 9 Cineplayer and still play using Windows Media Player 11. I guess something had gotten corrupted. Thanks to all who offered suggestions.
