Question

I just got the standard roxio game capture and when I press record I get a run time error. I'm using a windows vista computer. My specs are Processor: Pentium® Dual-Core CPU T4200 2.00GHz. Any help would be amazing. :)

I would start by doing a proper repair (skip nothing - add nothing)

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Unplug your RGC Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (skip this for now, you can do it after you check it out)

When you reach the screen where Repair is offered, choose that!

When the Repair completes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

Let us know how you make out ;)

This is a x86 32 bit operating system version. Don't install it if your running a x64 64 bit operating system version.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)
operating system version 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9B2DA534-3E03-4391-8A4D-074B9F2BC1BF&displaylang=en

Click system requirements and update the MS installer before updating the 2008 Redistributable Package Runtime Library's. Reboot after each installation.

Supported Operating System

Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows XP

Required Software:

o Windows Installer 3.0 Windows Installer 3.1 or later is recommended.
Disk Space Requirements: 6 MB (x86)

If this doesn't fix your problem it has to be the software.

Still doesn't work same error message. Is there anyway for me to get a downloadable version of the software i think my disk drive may be acting up?

Edit: I decided to return it. Not worth the effort.

i think my disk drive may be acting up?

If it copies the software DISC to a folder on your PC without read errors the DISC is fine!

A DISK would be a hard drive.

Then it's time to move to the next step... Again Add Nothing! - Skip Nothing!!!

Unplug your RGC Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Download and install the Revo Uninstaller. Then run it in Moderate Mode to remove any traces of Roxio.

Then turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When the Install completes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.
