Here is the following information;

Macbook Pro Intel 2Gh, 1GB RAM

Verbatim DVD +R DL 8.5 GB 240min
Toast Titanium 7.1 (latest update)

Following Error:

Ther drive reported an error:
Sense key = ILLEGAL REQUEST
Sense Code = 0x30, 0x05
CANNOT WRITE MEDIUM = INCOMPATIABLE FORMAT

Now what'm trying to burn is 'data' which is roughly 7.77GB with personal pictures and music from iTunes library.  I had no problem burning DVD but getting these errors with DVD DL.

Any pointers?

Sounds like a drive problem.  If you have a Apple superdrive, that is most likely the problem.  Try setting the write speed to 2x and see if that works.

I tried my first DL the other day, purely as an experiment, and Toast immediately gave me a "Sense Code" error. I know that this is the OS reporting a hardware/media issue but when I tried "Disk Utility" to copy the mounted disc image it worked perfectly. Luckily Toast had given up before doing anything to the DL and it was re-usable in "Disk Utility".

I think the usual methodology is advised, save your data as a disc image, mount the image, check the integrity of the data, and if Toast won't copy it try "Disk Utility"

I was using Verbatim +R DL x2.4.

I found the problem here is the Macbook Pro link that i am using;

http://support.apple...acBook_Pro.html

Specifically it says;

Storage

o Maximum Write: 4x DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW, and DVD-RW; 24x CD-R; 10x CD-RW
o Maximum Read: 8x DVD-ROM; 6x DVD-ROM (double layer DVD-9), DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW; 4x DVD+R (double layered) and DVD-R (double layered); 24x CD

So the conclusion is.. it can read DL but not burn DL.  Pooh.

I have been having the same problem and I already try the following disc's

Office Depot
DVD+R DL speed 2.4x

Memorex
DVD+R DL speed 2.4x

My computer is a MacBook Pro Intel C2Duo

I get the same errors your reporting, I also googled the same errors and other users are having the same problems. I dont think this is a hardware error but software error by Roxio.

Why?
We have success burning dvd-r and cds with toast 7, and also we have used disk utility to burn dvd+r dl and the finder, but with toast 7 we have all these errors. We have tried all the suggestions from roxio which is different brands, speeds, images, but the same problem or a workaround to their software.

What we want!
We want an update to fix this problem and stop wasting our money on expensive dvd+r dl dvds which can cost up to 5 dollars a dvd. I have already wasted 5 dvds.

It's not a bug in Toast, it's your drive and bad media.  Only use Verbatim.  It's the only thing that will work correctly in most Apple drives.  I wouldn't trust the burn from Disk Utility.
