After owning Versions 5,6,7, and 8 I should have expected issues...here we go. I uninstalled Roxio 8 using roxio's clean install instructions, checked driver updates ,did a disk cleanup, defrag, ready to go.  Installed the program disc, resarted the computer and then tried to install content disc, only to be told I must install and restart after the program disc. So, I checked, the program is installed.  Restarted again to get the same message again. Not a good sign, any ideas out there?

Also posting in "burning issues" and mentioning it here, only in case the problems are tied together, I decrypted one of our dvds and used disc copier (as I have done numerous times with 8) and when I tried to play it, it using Power dvd or Windows Media, it won't play. In Power DVD, it goes back to the opening screen.

Help!

Inspiron 9300
512 Ram
128MB ATI Radeon X300
80GB  Fujitsu Hard Drive
Windows XP Home SP2
NEC DVD +-RW ND-6500

The only thing that I have experienced when installing the EMC program along with the content disc is that after the program disc says it's finished, it seemed to take forever for the computer to stop whatever it was doing. With enough patience, I waited till I knew everything was completed, then did a re-start of the computer and then the content CD installed O.K.

That may not be your problem but make sure the installation of the program disc has really completed it's installation.

Did you actually run any program in EMC 9, prior to rebooting and installing the Content disk?

As for not being able to illegaly copy a commercial DVD, you'll get no sympathy in these forums.

I got the message that I have to reboot for it (program cd)to take effect, and got the screen for if I wanted to have a desk icon or view the read me file.

No, I didn't run any programs and rebooted immediately, and tried reinstalling program cd to no avail. The only thing I can think of is I have Ulead software on this computer for the external audigy sound card I use to convert my old lps and tapes to cd's.

As for the copies, they are our  purchased DVD's. I have a handicapped child that has a habit of misplacing things and one away at college where DVD's have been known to disappear, so from time to time backup copies are a good thing. However, I also tried to burn a DVD of video clips that was made in Creator 8 videowave and the same thing happened.
