I have installed EMC 9 on my Dell XPS laptop with XP service pack 2.  I have removed IE7 and cleaned out EMC 7. However I am still encountering the following:

After reboot windows will only show windows classic theme. I can't select XP theme.  It is not even available in the Display Properties Panel!

Windows runs extremely slow!  Unusable

My internal wireless adapter is now not found.

On startup I get a runtime library error for RoxWatchTray9.exe

I get an error saying my windows desktop search index is now corrupted

I get an error saying my spysweeper installation is now corrupted.

I have to restore my computer to get back to work!

I have tried the patch on this forum to no avail.

I have cleaned my registry

I have used the Microsoft Uninstall Clean up utility

I tried following all the procedures at http://kb.roxio.com/...0086CR#page_top with the same results

I tried installing EMC with none of the optional components. Same results.

And please don't tell me to reformat.  It is the principle of the matter. Why should I have to reformat just to run one piece of software?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

It appears no one has any suggestions.  Am I unique with all these issues?

If you remove EMC9, are all your problems gone?  What other software do you have installed on your system?
It's very hard to tell what's causing this problem.  Also, you  can shut down the Roxwatchtray9.

If I do a system restore then my problems go away.  I didn't even try doing a  normal uninstall because my taskbar went away and I couldn't access my control panel. I had to go into safe mode to do the system restore. As for what other software I have installed, I have a lot from adobe photoshop, premiere, MS office, etc.  But I tried the install on my dell desktop with the same software applications and it went just fine.  It was just on the laptop that I had the problems. Funny thing is that EMC 7 won't load on my dell desktop but works fine on the laptop!
