Shortly after installing Simple Backup 5.0 on my notebook running Windows XP I started to get a warning from Windows Defender that "potentially Malicious" software by the name PowerRegScheduler is on my computer.  Is this software a component of Simple Backup?  Why does Defender report this as potentially malicious?  What does it do?

Thanks for any insight.

I don't think it will be a part of Simple Backup. The original PowerReg Scheduler is said to be a registration reminder as used by Iomega, Hasbro-Microprose - amongst others. Some sites say that nasties have been known to camouflage themselves as PowerRegister.

Have a look here for more information.
