I'm trying to burn without compression a VIDEO_TS ( 7.69 GB ) to a Verbatim DVD +R DL using TOAST 7.1.

When I hit the big red burn button in Basic Settings I've selected 2X DVD,
then in the Advanced Settings I noticed that below After Writing both the Write Session and Write Disc are grayed out although the Write Disc has a dot in the circle.

Also I've selected Verify Data although Simulation Mode and Buffer Underrun are grayed out but
Buffer underrun is ticked on.

When I hit burn there is a silent quit of TOAST and of course the DVD+R DL disk is toast.

Today is the first time I've noticed those grayed out areas as noted above and today is the first time I've had 2 burn failures burning DL.

Are those areas supposed to be grayed out ?

Yes, those options are only avilable for CDs.

A silent Quit? It sounds like it is crashing. Have you tested with single layer media or even just burning a disc image? My first guess would be the DL media. Much of the DL media out there is poor quality.

Thanks for the info/response to my post.

The DL media is Verbatim.

I feel somewhat embarrassed by this posting/call for help. After have two failures I came to realize that the internal hard drive dedicated to audio/video/midi data was fuzzed. After doing a DiskWarrior and Apple'sDiskUtility repair all is OK.
