Just installed version 9 on my system and it activated okay, though it took forever to run.

But when I tried burning video contents it told me to use Disk Copier.

Okay, so I used Disk Copier, found the files on my hard drive and selected it. I had a blank disk in my Sony DVD writer and selected it without incident. Now the "Burn" option is grayed out. No error messages, it just won't burn.

What is my next option and why won't Classic Creator let me copy the folders the old fashioned way? Optimally it should let you do it either way.

Thanks!

Scratch this. I just rebooted for the second time and this time it worked. It does say "compressing DVD" which is confusing because there's plenty of space on the DVD for the files. I hope it's not compressing the data. I also wish Creator Classic would let me burn the disks. Cheers.

I get the same message that it's compressing but believe it's a minor bug.  This happens with smaller than disc size files and they always end up copying as the same size.
I never get this message when using Creator Classic to burn ISO's.

Why doesn't Classic Creator allow you to write video files in "data" mode? This seems to be another problem to be fixed.

You need to explain.  A video file is a video file.  It isn't data.  There is no problem that needs to be fixed with respect to what you are saying.

Depends on 'how' you create the disc.  If you drag the video_ts folder to the project window, it assumes you want to create a 'video DVD'.  Instead, just drag the files in the folder to the project window.  That worked for me and it created a 'data' disc.  You should n't have any trouble with other files like MPG, DivX, AVI, etc. Those are just data anyway.

Yes. It's just that I've been doing it this way for years because I can do it quickly and combine a number of tasks into one. If I drag the Video_ts folder to the copy box, I can't see any advantage to having the program ask me to open a new application when it could just do it without a message. I could understand a box that says: "Did you know you can use Disk Copier to copy video files?" Then a box asking me if I wanted to continue or even see the message again.

I use Classic Creator more than just about any other tool in the suite and feel it shouldn't be any skin off Roxio's back over which application I use to achieve the same thing.

Even so, thanks for your comments. Maybe Roxio will change this in a future update.

I agree.  With Creator Classic, we should be able to create a 'video DVD' with a data folder, too. The only way to do that now is to trick Disc Copier to do it.

Well, in the project pane you can right click, new folder, rename it VIDEO_TS, then drag the files into that folder. Surely that would make a proper video DVD (I noticed the video DVDs I've looked at also have a folder called AUDIO_TS, usually empty, but one could create that as well in the project pane if needed).

As for compression in Disc copier, whilst it always says compressing in the burn box, in the Disc Copier window  if no compression is needed it says bootom right Content quality: Identical to original.

I've always wondered what purpose the empty AUDIO_TS folder served. Anyway, there doesn't seem to be a legitimate reason for Classic Creator to force us to use an entirely different application. Why would Roxio engineer it that way?

Well there is a good reason, most folks still would not know enough to get the proper burn settings and if the strict file structure of a DVD Movie is not followed, you have a nice coaster on your hands!

Some folks think all you need is a hammer, screwdriver and pliers to fix anything. I prefer the right tool for the job and if you don't know how to use a torque wrench, you need to learn.

But then you are excluding those that do know how to use the RIGHT TOOL.  Just another case of 'dumbing down' the software which isn't really necessary.  Like why did they remove all the audio components from CC? That worked perfectly fine the way it was.

A lot of these types of  'problems' are caused by "experienced users" who never bother to relearn the software intent… (my hand is right up there!)

If you work as the software intended, you start Home and select an outcome based task. Do it that way and things work just fine, most of the time!

Us "experienced users" skip that part and proceed along the same path we took with v3. It is a little painful, but relearning to use the software as it was intended can produce benefits.
