I accidentally posted this in the Playback/Reading Issues area - excuse the double posting.

Anyway, I first experienced this problem after installing EMC 9 after using EMC 8 (and previous versions) for a year or so without this problem. After uninstalling 9 and reinstalling 8, I now have this problem in 8! I create a DVD project in MyDVD with menus. I add several movies to the main menu (Brook menu style) and burn the project to an ISO image (the same problem exists when I burn to DVD). When I view the ISO when loading to the DVD drive emulator or after burning to an actual DVD, when the playback starts, it doesn't show a menu and starts playing the first movie I added to the project. I can't skip forward to the next movie (acts as if there is no other movie on the DVD) and when I try going to the Title Menu, it just starts the first movie over again. When I click on Preview in MyDVD, I see the results I expect; it's when I burn to ISO or DVD that I have the problem. The size of the ISO is over 4GB, and I see the 2 movies being encoded as well as the menu being encoded during the burn. I'm not sure what, if anything, I'm doing wrong. Does anyone have any ideas or things for me to try? I have a fairly decent machine: Dell XPS 600, Pentium 300GHz, 2GB RAM and have ensured I have the latest version of DirectX as well as using RoziZap and Windows Uninstaller to remove previous versions of EMC. Thanks for your help.

Is the program trying to make a DVD, no menus? In MyDVD, when you open a new project, go to the top menu and select file new and select a DVD project there. Make sure "DVD, no menu" is not the selection.

You use Disc Cpier to burn? If so, which tab do you use to burn: CD&DVD Copy tab or Video Compilation tab? The first one copies the entire ISO. The second one just presents all movies/chapters in the ISO that you can select to include (I don't think menus are included in the selection).

I've seen this recommendation before, so I'm making very sure that I pick DVD (with menus). I even see the menus being encoded during the burn process. I'm burning around an hour of video and the ISO is over 4GB, but I don't see menus and only can access the 1st movie I add to the project. Still confused.

Any other thoughts? Thanks for your input.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help me here. I did a full uninstall and downgraded to EMC 8 Deluxe and everything seems to be working now. Thanks again.

I am seeing a similar problem as Shawn. However there is one difference. I see that I get an error "80004005 error while encoding menus" I get this error if I burn to DVD or wirte to disk as ISO image.

All other symptoms are identical to Shawn's problem. That is no menu, can't skip to next movie, if you press menu the first movie starts and when you start DVD the first movie starts right off the bat. Interestingly Preview shows all menu functions working properly.

I am using EMC 9 and this is my first time using it. I am trying to create DVD using MyDVD 9 and my video files are dvr-ms files recorded by Media Center 2005. I am using option of DVD with Menus while creating this project.

I have NVIDIA FX 5200 video card and latest (2nd Nov 06, version 91.47 ) drivers.

Any tips to debug?

I have the same problem as well, minus the error message, and with a different video card. Would love to hear if you resolve it!!

Do either of you use SlySoft AnyDVD? I found that if I shut it down and then burn my image or DVD, it all works fine. Let me know if this is the case for you.
