I'm trying to burn my project to disc, something that has worked many times before, but now, when the overall progress and encoding bars reach 100%, instead of a window popping open offering to run the movie as usual, a blank Windows Explorer window for the DVD drive pops up for the blank recordable disc I put in, just as if I put a blank disc in the drive for the first time.   Nothing at all was burned to the disc; it's entirely blank.

While I'm here, anybody know why occasionally the program will just disappear while I'm working, and if I try to run it again, it tells me I'm trying to initiate a program that's already running??

I see a lot of people are asking for specs to help out...just so I know what specs exactly are we talking about so I can be ready?

Thanks much!

What and what function are you using to burn the DVD?  Since it worked before, start looking at what new programs were installed recently and what updates were done.  You might try a restore to an earlier date to see if it fixes the problem.  Unfortunately if there have been a lot of new software or updates, you will have to add them back in one at a time to see which one is the culprit.

No idea about the second but it may be an automatic update, a virus scan or some other program kicking on periodically.

As for computer specs, look at some of the ones in the signatures to find one that suits you.  You can find out a lot about your computer by looking at what you purchased or by running "Belarc Adviser".  It is free.
If you go to My Controls at the top of the board, and then look down to the left to edit signature, you can add that information there.  You can add a handle (name) and perhaps your favorite phrase (clean).  For these programs, it is very important to have your video card/chip information.  You can also use Windows>Start> Run> dxdiag> OK to get your version of DirectX (should be 9c) and your video information on the left side of the display tab.  If you edit the signature for your computer specs, it will automatically add that information to all your posts including the previous ones.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Laptop - Windows 7 Home
Dell XPS 1645, Intel I7 1,6G with overdrive ,4G RAM, 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730, Sound Blaster X-Fi MB Panzer, 500G hard drive.

Thanks, sknis...I'll give it a try, but I doubt it.  Literally, ten minutes after I successfully burned one DVD, I changed a couple of things (title names and added another movie) and tried to burn it again, and that's when the problem started, so there were no updates or changes done.

Cool, thanks again.
