I need help figuring out why the video I transferred from my digital camcorder is playing back choppy.
I have a NVidia GeForce 5200 (128MB) video card and I recently reloaded the driver and installed v93.71 attempting to fix the problem. I see no difference.
The file size is approx. 12GB and this is occurring in all major media players (WM 10, Realplayer, and Quicktime). When it was happening during preview in EMC 8, I figured it was just the software. I recently uploaded a 6GB DV (avi format) from my camcorder and it transferred choppy and plays choppy.
I have a Dell Dimension 8300 2.60 Ghz PC, with 1.5GB of RAM, an 80GB HD and a 300GB HD for extra storage.
Any advise would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Frank [Befuddled]

It looks like it is a problem with the file. Probably a bad capture or the video card not being up to snuff, although it should be.

Well, I have captured several files in the past and initially they all played fine. Now, even those files play choppy.
My suspicion is the video card, though I am not sure what steps I need to take to correct the issue (other than the obvious - buy a better VC).
Is the file size a factor? Is there a player out there that plays larger files better?

Can you try that file on another computer? If it is choppy then, it is probably a problem with the file.
You could try uninstalling the video driver you have installed now, reboot, and try installing it again. I have the same driver, and have not had any problems, but that means nothing to your situation.
