I backup and verify to NAS each night...works properly. On Sunday night I backup to tape so I can get off premises. Sometimes it works but usually I get what you see below. This is unattended, fits on one tape, the software recognizes the header and writes the tape, then seems to time out and self-cancel when starting the verify. Any suggestions? I've changed tapes and tape drives and uninstalled and reinstalled software many times. Same result.

It has been a while since I did a tape backup, but I will try to help.
After this error, have you tried a manual compare? Successful?

There are a few other things I need to look at, but I am at work right now so don't have access to BUMP. I will look at the other things when I get home.

No, I haven't. I'll try one this evening. Even if I get compare errors, knowing that the tape is recognized and accepted will be interesting.

Are you using multiple jobs to do these backups? I assume by your first post that you have unattended backup checked. If multiple jobs, make sure it is checked for all of them.
Only other thing that I can think of right now is the length of time it takes for the tape to reposition itself to the beginning to be able to read the header for the label info. Possibly the program is timing out or for some reason the tape just never gets to the proper position. Just a guess at this point.
