Currently, everytime I click the Red button in "copy" to try to create any DVD copy of a Data DVD or a NON-Protected Personal Made Movie DVD, I get this error message before Toast finishes copying the DVD volume:

Couldn't complete the last command because there was an I/O error (your disk may be copy protected).
Result Code = - 36

Any of my Data and personal DVD's are NOT copy protected because it's all personal stuff, no commercial stuff.

I made copies of these very disks before and had no problem until recently. I wonder if upgrading to OS X 10.4.8 has made Toast stop working?

HELP. I need to figure this out.

MacIntosh G5
OS X 10.4.8
Toast Titanium 7.1
Sony DVD RW DW-Q28A Superdrive

Also tried making a disk image and then burning that, but the disk image wouldn't complete.

If anyone has answers I'd appreciate it, I'm unable to burn anything through Toast 7!?

I don't know why this is happening. However, since you mention updating to 10.4.8, try downloading and applying Apple's Combined System Update on top of your existing 10.4.8. That sometimes resolves issues that appear after doing an incremental system update.

Combined Update didn't work. Any other ideas? I've seen posts for Windows versions saying to update dvd drive firmware. Can this be done for Mac too?

I usually have this problem when I have a damaged/scratched disc.  Don't know how to fix it.
