I have searched the Roxio forums, looking for a solution to the buffer overrun error I keep getting. I found a patch that was supposed to fix this problem. It was bo_hotfix.exe I downloaded and ran it. It didn't do a thing for my problem. Can someone please figure out what to do about this problem? I can no longer do any burning to backup files.
  Here are the errors I get when I try to burn in a backup DVD:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Buffer overrun detected!
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic Shared\Sonic Central\Main\Mediahub.exe

Then I have to click OK and the Roxio window closes...

Had the same experience - some improvement in that errors appear to have stopped for the main program but still occur when attempting to use Disc copier. I wrote to John, who developed the fix.

I have seen some cases where permisison problems prevented the patch from actually doing anything.  Make sure that some anti-malware (antivirus, antispam, firewall) software isn't blocking our patch from doing what it is supposed to do.

I have applied this patch and still receive the buffer overrun problem.  I have Norton Internet Security (R6) installed and have disabled antivirus, antispam, and internet firewall.  Any new suggestions?

Also, when I attempt to login (after registration to an existing account) it will not accept my id/password to send support an email.

This is an update to this entry.  I've done a complete uninstall/reinstall.  Insured NIS 2006 is fully turned off, insured that the MS firewall is not active, reapplied the fix and it still is not working.  I also still cannot log into the technical support web page due to id/password problems.  I've verified my id/password and they are being entered correctly.

Without a fix to this problem, I plan on returning it for a refund. :)

millewg,
I had the same problem. I Made sure that my anti-malware (antivirus, antispam, firewall) software isn't blocking the fix. They aren't. The patch still doesn't solve the problem.
   I guess I'll have to quit Roxio too. It's a shame. I have been using their products since before they were owned by Roxio. I was using one of the earliest versions of Adaptec Easy CD Creater when I first had a CD burner. My latest Roxio software came with my Sony Media Center computer, which I've had only since early this year. Sony has been on the phone with me for hours, over the last few weeks. They tried all they could to fix this Roxio software problem. It's still not working. I can't keep wasting time on this. Too bad I can't get a refund.

Exactly the same experience - just disabled all McAfee functions and applied the fix again for the 3rd/4th time. I also previously de/re-installed Creator 9 and ran the fix? The situation improves in that at least there's no runtime errors for the main program but I still experience them with Disc Copier?

I only bought this software to create iPod videos from WMVs - my preference was to purchase from a reputable supplier because of the associated support but this is my third weekend trying to get it working?

How do I go about getting a refund?

Waggie

p.s. also the same experience trying to log into support with validated name/password?
