I just bought a new DVD burner with DL and light scribe support. The nero software that came with really sucks for any DVD that I create is not useable on any other drive. So, I had to go back to roxio which works great. My question is though roxio seems to see the DL DVD okay, I was wondering if it is going to work properly if I try and burn a DL DVD. It looks like it should, but I thought I would ask before I trash one.

I have a note to myself that V7.1 was the first to burn DL. Problem is that one version only supported limited projects, either Classic (data) or DVD Builder (movies). Another guru, who kept better notes, will probably post the details.
I know V7.5, V8 and V9 all do in all apps but can't recall what happened on the fringes of 7.

It will depend on the version you have. You posted in V7 but there are several versions and I cannot recall the exact limitations…

I believe version 7 only allowed copying data to DL DVDs, creating video DVDs was not possible until EMC 7.5.

First version to support DL Video discs thru DVD Builder was 7.1.1.189 (just checked mine of that version to verify).

. I keep forgetting about that version since I never did much with it before moving to 7.5. At that time the DL DVDs cost an arm & leg ... now its just an arm
...and 2 toes!
Thanks gang, I updated my historcial notes for V7. Now if I can only remember to consult them.

Checked mine too and that version was an updated version of the original 7.1 However, the first time I ever used EMC with a DL media was 7.5. At first I didn't know if my DL DVD I burned would play in my DVD player, but found out it did. I'm not sure about other DVD players however. Probably some will and others won't.
