I just successfully installed EMC9. I thought I would pass along some basics that may help:
First, reading this forum certainly helped me and I would recommend this as a first step. Don't panic when others may have problems as all systems are configured differently.
Second, download and install the windows installer clean-up utility. This link can be found in this forum as that is where I found it (sorry I am not that technically sound to give you the link here).
Third, I would recommend purchasing the CD as this is a large program and downloading online could take a few hours.
Fourth, use the windows installer clean-up utility to remove any old versions of Roxio.
Fifth, reboot after removing any previous versions.
Sixth, make sure you register with Roxio as tech support won't help you if you are not (at least that is what I was told and thankfully I was registered).
Seventh, Turn-off any firewall and virus protection.
Eighth, Install the CD (or download) with the program portion first and make sure no other processes are running. Once this is installed you will need to reboot.
Ninth, install the contents portion.
Hopefully this will help someone. Can't guarantee it, but just thought I would post a positive install.

Excellent list of how to do it! Thanks for posting. It will help others with their installs.
