Can BackUp MyPC backup files to a DVD and then be restored on another computer that also has Backup MyPC?

Only if it is installed on both machines. And it will have to be similar versions. Format has changed around version 4-5.
If all you want to do is copy between machines, use a CD-RW or DVD+-RW. Not good for long term storage, but okay for transferring data.

Thank you!  The DVD copy software wasn't working on my son's laptop, so we're hoping BackUp MyPC will take care of our needs for now.  I'll install the software on my laptop and see if it will restore the 3.4 GB of data I backed up on a DVD.

One thing you will probably have to do is say restore to an alternate location as the directory structure you backed up will not be on the second machine.
