Can you please describe in details what you mean by "...I can see the names of the files and movie but it will not let me select or preview them..."? How are you trying to preview?

Up at the top right of the of the window there is a small icon that looks like a TV screen, when you move the cursor over it it says preview. I cant select the movie that I see (movie or sub movies) to preview. On my laptop when I've selected the movie subdirectory, I can click the TV icon and a box pops up with the movie and plays.
Something else I just ran into, I went to start create DVD with my DVD and I get a box " The following codec (s) must be activated before using the application: MPEG-2", I click OK to activate and I get an error box " no permission - bad installation" I'm guessing this may be part of the problem? Not sure how to activate it for this app though.
I have not searched this site for this issue yet and will be doing that next.
I did try a repair install thinking it might fix things that may be a problem but that did not help. I had a heck of a time installing the program. I needed to use the instructions I found here clearing out the reg and removing subdirectories, cookies etc. I kept getting a message to "put in disk" that was already there and the install stalled. I saw that someone had success moving the cd's files to the HD and installing from there. That was what I had to do too.
edit: I searched on the activation problem, I can't do a manual activation because I never get the chance since I get the no permission and bad install error. It seems there may be a patch but there is no link to it. I've already did a clean install which is long drawn-out and painful but guess I'll give that another try.

NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE 512mb memory, latest drivers
I did call tec support and they said that they were aware of the issue but did not currently have a fix for my problem after we discussed all the details
I suppose this thread should be moved to the install section instead.
