I just cleaned up and did a fresh install of windows XP Pro for a customer of mine. She had purchased Roxio 8 and I installed and tested all of the software that she wanted on the computer with one exception I did not test the drag to disc.
She is having problems with DVD 8 starting up when dropping pictures into drag to disc. I remoted into her computer and for the life of me, I can't figure out why this happens. While typing this I just thought that I should also try other files and folders to see if it is just the jpeg or if it is anything that she is trying to put to a CD.
She has a CD and DVD burner and I have tried both drives and the same thing happens, when you drop a picture DVD 8 starts up.
Any help out there

It would help if you had the correct program name as there is no such thing as "DVD 8" in the Suite…

If you drag a file to an optical burner, what do you expect to happen?

This forum has come under attack by people who criticize more then they help.
Ok, it is "MY DVD" and I assume that the question you asked is a rhetorical question since this is posted in
Drag to Disc section and the title is Drag to Disc. So I would expect any file that I drop down to the Drag to Disc would, like on my computer and any other running this software, would of course send the file to the CD without popping up MY DVD.
So the question now is what is wrong with you? Why do you have to try to inflame
those that are seeking help? Your comment was not helpful nor requested and did not even address
the problem. Anyone who had half a brain could have figured out what I meant to say. So do us all a favor and only post reasonable responses and keep respectful of those who are asking help.

Tim: You are sadly mistaken. I asked for more information so that I and others, would understand what is going on…

I also wanted to make sure you were not expecting to use XP Burning in lieu of D2D.

Now I have to do some digging! I recall seeing something during install about allowing D2D to anticipate certain actions and react accordingly. Actions such as dropping a jpg and it assumes you want to make a slideshow so it starts MyDVD for you.

Now the digging to find out where these actions can be edited!

I got lucky!

Open the D2D interface

Click the File Types button

Change the settings to what you want them to be, ie: "Send the files to Drag-to-Disc to make a data disc"

You got lucky? I got lucky, thanks for the help. I over looked that and most likely would have never even thought of that. I will remote into her computer and see if this is the problem, which I am sure it is. I will let you know as soon as I do that.
Thank you again for your time and help.

Got my fingers crossed, yes let us know what settings they had (guessing MyDVD) and if this cures it.

You can uncross them, it worked; she has burned several pictures and My DVD no longer comes up.
I am unsure of what settings she had on the computer as I did not remote, just sent her the instructions you laid out for me but I would imagine you were right about the settings being for MYDVD.
Once again thank you very much for your time, patience, and knowledge.

I thought I posted a reply but I do not see it, so this maybe a repeat.
Yes it worked from what I was told; she dumped several pictures down to d2d and MyDVD did not pop up.
Once again thank your for your time, patience, and knowledge in helping with this problem
Take care
Tim
