Last night I was happily editing photos in PhotoSuite (EMC 7.5). I closed out to go do some other things and went back about an hour later to continue. I opened PhotoSuite, chose Edit, my group of photos appeared, I chose the photo I wanted to edit, clicked on it and instead of opening my photo to edit the program took me back to the screen where it gave me the choice of Edit, Project, Stitch, etc. Thinking there might be a problem with that particular photo, I tried to open various other photos all with the same result. Photo did not open when I clciked it. Instead I was taken back to the opening screen where it gave me the choice of Edit, Project, Stitch, etc.. Does anyone have any suggestions how to resolve this issue?
Susan :)

What happens if you go to the folder that has the picture you want to edit, you highlight the picture, go up into file and choose open with photosuite?

Thanks for the suggestion Patty. First, FYI -
tonight I again opened PhotoSuite and was able to edit several pictures. Yay ! After editing several pictures the program again refused to open any more photos. Frustrated, I checked this forum and found your suggestion. I followed the steps you outlined. However, when I chose open with photosuite, the photo did not open but photosuite opened to the Edit and Create screen with an error message that read "can't open file." I'm stumped again. Is it possible the program prefers only to edit 3 or 4 photos at one particular sitting and no more? Is there such a thing as over-using the software? Is it rebelling? :)

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I have been under the weather. Is this something that has just been happening? I mean has it been working correctly until now? Am I correct that you bring up a photo to be edited, you do your editing then save it, bring up another photo etc etc? I have never had this type of problem and I have done editing of several photos in a row. Have you installed anything on your computer lately? Have you tried doing a repair? I am hoping one of the Guru's that might have seen this problem before might hop in here and be able to help you. The reason I asked about opening it like my previous post, is I wanted to make sure it wasn't just a temp. glitch.

I'm sorry to hear you've not been feeling well. There does seem to be some type of illness lurking in my workplace. No apologies needed for not responding sooner. I'm happy to receive suggestions at your convenience. I don't have a history of this problem happening nor do I have a history of satisfactory photo editing with Roxio since I have just recently begun using Roxio for photo editing. Being a newbie to the digital world, for the past year I have been limiting myself to another editing progam I have. In the beginning I was feeling overwhelmed with all the possibilities in the several programs my family has introduced me to with photo editing, DVD creating and burning, CD creating and burning, etc. and I have just begun to branch out to try new aspects of the various programs I have on my computer. I'm enjoying the digital world more and more every day ! Anyway, as my sons tell me I made a short story long here in answering your question. The short answer is I have no previous experience with PhotoSuite performance since I just started using it last week. I haven't installed anything new on my computer and I don't understand how I would do a repair as you suggested. It happened again tonight. I edited about 4 photos and when I tried to open the 5th photo the problem occurred. Luckily in this instance I don't have a deadline to meet for finishing this project. It's just annoying that I can only edit 4 or 5 photos a night. I am working on a scrapbook project with 150 photos. Of course, not all of them need editing but I would guess maybe I will be editing about half of them. Now that I've given Roxio a rest, I'll go back and try again (or just go to bed) :)

Patty,
Earlier you asked if I had added anything new on my computer lately. I just remember YES I recently updated my video card. I replaced my old Intel 82845 (came with the computer) with a RADEON 9550. I wouldn't think that would cause any problems but I am not that computer literate so maybe there could be a glitch? In the interim I have discovered if always leave 1 photo open in PhotoSuite I can open others to edit and pretty much edit as many as I want. Once I close all the photos and go back to the Edit screen, the program will not open any photos. At least I do have a workaround that I can work with.

Susan,

I don't know why the program is giving you this problem. As for repair, you go into the control program and choose add/remove, there will be a repair option, choose that. You will be instructed to put the disc in do so and follow directions.

I shouldn't think the video card would have anything to do with the problem. My reason for asking that was that if it had been working ealier and then quite, it might have been something to do with changes on the computer, but since you haven't used it before we have no way of telling.
