On an MSI Board, with AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 3800
Using XP Home with all available updates.
IE 6 and then IE 7

I just got a new EMC 9 and decided to install it on the same day as Window's OneCare Live.
Installations were fine but the EMC would not load, I got an error on every try.

Well, I tried to uninstall the OneCare as it was the last thing I had installed when major problems developed.
I could uninstall the Onecare and ended up with some pretty decent help with MS support.
Problem solved, then EMC would not uninstall,
Back to MS support and their answer is................You have to choose one or the other but EMC and OneCare won't work on the same machine.
I can uninstall the Onecare and EMC 9 works wonderfully as expected having used versions 6,7, and 8 previously,

One problem is also found is that once Onecare is on your machine, the Windows Installers seem to get corrupted and fail.

Then you have major problems uninstalling almost every program that I have tried.

MS answers with, "THERE IS ON PROBLEM WITH THE ONECARE, SO IT IS A 3RD PARTY ISSUE"

Not good,

Anyone else experienced these problems and possibly experienced a work around.?

That advice from MS sounds like crap! I'm beta testing OneCare for MS and have it installed on my laptop which was installed AFTER I already had EMC9 installed and working properly. While I don't use my laptop too much for video work, I've not noticed one problem with it working well. Neither OneCare nor EMC9 is giving me problems.
As for the uninstaller problems, I can't say but I'll see what happens. On the beta side, there really not off and running yet and getting info is hard as they're most likely rushing Vista out the door.

I was running the Onecare beta with EMC 8 and had no appreciable problems, the trouble only started after I put on the retail Onecare and the EMC9.

I am going to hold out and see what happens. This one is going to repeat ( I am willing to bet) and some sort of correction will appear.

Personally I never had any problems with the earlier reported problems on the IE7 betas or full versions.

I just gave EMC9 and OneCare a once over. All apps work and I see no problems. When I opened some of the apps, I am asked if I want to allow the program or block it. Once I allow it, it works fine. Maybe you have some parts of 9 blocked.

I am running Windows OneCare and EMC9 on a Dell Inspiron 9300. I have not had any problems with either one. I believe they are compatible.

I have VERY similar hardware to yours & have all those software products installed & running, including IE7, with no major issues. The WIndows UI Themes that I chose, don't seem to apply to EMC for some reason though, so there may be problems here that I have yet to fully realize!

I checked just to make sure and have nothing blocked.

My major problem is that EMC9 (specifically PhotoSuite) wont even start.
It just bails out and quits

I get the splash screen (Roxio) and then the error notice

I would love to know why mine is having prob lems.

Ireally don't buy MS's "it just won't work" answer.

EMC8 worked well but I can't even get that to work now.

Maybe a repair install would help. Could be some corrupted files.
Not sure why you're having this problem. You could try posting on theOncCare Forum and see if you can get an answer.

Sorry, a repair install of EMC. Even if it doesn't work, no harm is done.
What version of OneCare are you running?

Maybe mine is working because I'm using the beta 1.5. Don't know if you want to try it but if all else fails, you might give it a go.
