I am having a problem burning a vdc or dvd that will play on my home dvd player.  I am able to play the vcd and dvd on my computer, but when I take the disc to my home player I get a disk error msg,
any ideas would be appreciated.  I was told to try to change the UDF setting to 1.02 since is supposed be more universal, but I can't finde where this setting can be changed.
Any and all help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Tony

What programs in EMC 9 did your use to create and burn your production.  If it plays ok on your computer, then you could try a different brand/type of media to see if it will work in your set top DVD player.

For the VCD, check your owners manual to see if your set top will play a VCD disk.

I really appreciate the feedback.  someone did mention that there are many "bad"dvd disks out there :)
I've tried two different brands, Verbatim and Philips with the same unsatisfactory results.  As fas as my dvd player, yes it can and does play vcd disks.
Thanks

Verbatim is good media.  Philips used to be junk, but I don't know if it is now.  One other thing to try is burning at a lower speed.  Try 4x speed, and see if that makes a difference.

Also, answer the question on what programs you used to create the production and burn it.  If you used Drag to Disc to burn, no set top player will recognize the disc, because it isn't in video format.

I'm using the roxio dvd program to burn a slideshow created with the roxio slideshow creator, (EMC9), not using the drop to disk.
An addition to the puzzle.  I dug out anothe DVD player that I had stored in the basement, a PANASONIC model PV-D4744A manufactured in 08-2004 and this panasonic is able to play all of the 'coasters' that would not play on my newer dvd player.. a SAMSUNG mod DVD-V5500 manufactured in 06-2005, neither one would play the VCDs I created.  So I am leaning more and more to the format used during the burn..as I mentioned earlier, someone suggested changing UDF setting...can someone tell me if this is possible in EMC9?
Thanks for your help.

Support for VCD's is being dropped left and right by DVD Player manufactures. None of my new(er) Players will play one.

You cannot set the media File System used in MyDVD. I doubt it would make any difference and may cause the Player to reject the VCD because it is in a non-standard File System…

If you want to try it, use Classic and set a Data Project to UDF, No Bridge. Then add all of the files/folders from one of your non-working VCDs and burn it Read Only.

In the off chance that works, let us know.

Thanks for that suggestion, I will give that a try, I have decided to do this project in DVD (rather than VCD), I am concerned that the DVDs produced will only play in the Panasonic, not the Samsung.  Is there anything I can do to the burn settings that will make the DVD more "universal" and play in both VDV players.
Again, thanks for the advice.
