sorry, incomplete topic....forgot a word that was important.....
anyway, I have a video clip on an overlay track, decided to try to 'slow it down' (again) (just did it last night and it worked).....clicked on trimmer, have no slow down/speed up choice and I get this error: Could not create the render object, DirectX may not be compatible..........everything worked fine last night, any suggestions what to do???

The speed of a video clip placed on the overlay track cannot be adjusted. As far as I know, the speed adjustment feature is only available for videos placed on the video track.
An alternative would be to place the clip on the video track, adjust the speed, output to another video clip, and place that new clip on the overlay track.
I am not sure about the error message. Have you tried as james has suggested?

I rebooted 3 times, still having problems....now I have to click on "Edit Video" 3 times before it will open.... I did a system restore prior to the problem and now I have all kinds of problems when working with video clips in the overlay track.....keeps freezing up, or else another audio clip plays instead of the correct one.....or the audio will play and I have no preview.....took one hour to render a six minute video, then after that I rendered a 4 minute video and it only took 10 minutes??? Did the defrag, sypware scan, etc....
Shall I re-install Roxio????

If you had to resort to doing a Restore, you got problems a plenty! Most people think Restore is some magic to start all over fresh, it is not.
Yes an uninstall/reboot/reinstall is in order but if you are having other PC problems it might be a good time (Xmas sales) to get a new HD and start fresh. You can keep the old one to transfer files from.
