How do I get clips to 'play all' when made into video DVD-R? I successfully made my first video DVD-R on Toast Titanium 6. I have two problems. I have about 80 clips. When I put the DVD in my TV set up DVD player, I am forced to play each clip separetly because I don't see a play all. Also, when I get to about the 10th clip, it freezes then every thing disappears and I have to reinsert the DVD. ALSO if I skip the 10th clip I go to play any clip after, an earlier clip plays instead of the one I've selected. Any help would be SO appreciated!! Thanks :)

When you set up the videos for making a DVD in Toast there is an "Auto-play items" check box on the left. If this is checked then the DVD will continuously play from one title to the next.

I can't explain the odd playback problem. It could be a faulty disc or a problem that the DVD Player has playing that brand of media. Does it play correctly in your Mac?

You might try a different brand of discs or burning at a slower speed.

I just tried it on my Mac and it has the same problems after the same spot. Do you recommend I go ahead and just try with another brand DVD? I can't believe how long it takes! Also, if I check auto-play, will it give me a choice whether to play one at a time still? Thanks so much!! :)

You only have the problem with the one clip - at least as far as you know. Here's what I recommend doing next.

1. Insert the burned DVD and drag the VIDEO_TS folder to your desktop to copy it to the hard drive. Eject the DVD when done.

2. Open Toast and choose DVD Video as the format. Drag the saved VIDEO_TS folder to the Toast window. You'll get a message that some files weren't accepted. Click okay. Those don't matter anyway.

3. You'll see each of the titles from the DVD. Fix the menu names. Select and delete the title that didn't play correctly. Now add the original clip that corresponds with that title. I'm trying to save you a lot of time by re-using the encoded videos that work and only having to encode from the original source the one that didn't work. You can move the order of titles by selecting and dragging them up and down in the window, so that is how you can place the clip in the correct order with the others.

4. When everything is the way you want choose Save as Disc Image from the File menu. This will write a video DVD to your hard drive in the form of a disc image. You'll see Toast "multiplexing" the previously encoded clips and "encoding" the one you replaced.

5. When the disc image is done, go to the Toast Copy window and choose Image File. Select the disc image you saved. When this is mounted it should automatically launch DVD Player so you can preview it on your Mac. If this one works okay, you can burn the new DVD using the burn button in the Copy window.

Automatic play causes the disc to start playing without going to a menu and continuously playing from wherever you start. So if you press the menu button on your DVD player's remote you can choose any of the titles from which the player will continuously play that and following titles. I think it even loops back to the beginning when the last title is completed. There is no way to change that with Toast 6. Toast 7 has the option to automatically start playing the disc on insert as separate from continuous playback.

The only way I know to have the option to continuous play or not is to burn the disc without the automatic play feature and use commands available in the DVD Player to program the titles for continuous playback. You probably have never accessed those commands, but they likely are there.
