I was wondering if Roxio will be updating the codecs installed in EMC 9 ? Also is there any possibility of adding a preferred codec ? I use WavPack ( http://www.wavpack.com/ ) as it is faster at encoding/decoding and has a better all around feature set than the FLAC codec. Of course I can transcode FLAC to WavPack. Also I believe that the FLAC codec is v.1.1 which dates back to Jan. 29th 2003. Please correct me if I'm mistaken but if that's the case it's mighty old.

I saw in the FLAC website that a new version FLAC 1.1.3 got released in November 2006.

Yep. I try to stay on top of the developments in the audio realm. I just don't think copying the libFLAC.dll and corresponding library to \Roxio\AudioCodecCommon 9 is going to make it. I'd imagine that there are several adjustments to the program that need to be made for the new codec to function. And note that my primary concern it getting WavPack included. FLAC is OK but it's not as good as WavPack. You can see a good comparison at :
