I must admit I am way over my head to all this video stuff, so I hope someone can help me through this!
I just installed creator 9, and I have been able to capyure video from my laser disc player.
now for the life of me I can't figure out how to edit (I don't see the captured video on the picture boards)
all I get is one story board with the complete video so how do I edit it?
I have readf the help, tuturial, web site etc. now I am more confused than ever!
I thought it might be as easy as editing sound, boy was I wrong!
so I hope someone can send me down the right road,
thanks,
Dave

Start by reading the tutorials and help files. The first thing you do is click on the Timeline button in VideoWave, then move the slider to where you want to start your cut. Right click on that point, and select split. Move to the point where you want to end the part you want to cut, right click, and select split. Highlight the area between the split points, right click, and select delete.
I use the right click method. Others use the icons for splitting. I just gave you a cursory method of doing it. Do a couple of practice productions, and before you know it, you will be making some great productions.

thank you "grandpabruce" it seems I was doing the right thing all along, my problem is when I have the little left & right arrow at the beginning of the scene & I right click on split I don't know if my pc is locking up or I am not allowing it to finish what it is doing? how long does it usually take to edit out 30 sec - 1 min?
my system is a GatewayAMD 64 x2 4200 dual core with 2 gig of ram & 320gig hd
anyway I will keep on trying! as I said I am over my head on all this technology!
thanks again,
Dave

The actual split should be immediate. Getting to the point where you want to do the split can take a lot of time if you are using mpegs.

I never timed it but you are correct in the process slowing down using mpg files. If the files are long, then AVI is much better but can still slow down a fast computer. Really interested? It is short movie of 2 splits and then a deletion of one section. This shows the mechanics and I made no attempt to time how long it takes getting to the right spot. Looks like the actual split was less than 5 seconds. It seemed like the time to do the operation was long but since the demonstration video is less than one minute, it couldn't have been all that long.

Trying to edit a video in Storyboard view is not the way to go. Click on the "Timeline View" as suggested by Bruce should do the trick...

Sorry about that, the first one I did was posted as a wmv file so when blown up to full page all you could see was blurred. This one is clearer but does take some time to download.
