I put all my Label Creator projects in a separate folder. I got irritated by the fact that when I click File/ Open Project in Label Creator it opens at My Documents. I could not find a setting in Label Creator to set the folder. So I added a string value called ProjectDir, whose data points to the folder whee I keep the Label Creator projects in the key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Roxio\Label Creator\9.0\Settings

Now when I click on Open project it opens at that folder. Also if I click File/ Save project as..

I did this by analogy with the string value called PicturesDir.

Jean,

You rock!  I needed to do this for Creator Classic.  Same concept applies.  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Roxio\Creator Classic\9.0\Settings\ProjectDir=D:\<dir>.  Bingo!  Thanks!

I like this tip, but, can you elaborate?

Where do you enter the string? What path/paths do I have to follow to get to the correct place to enter the string?   unsure.gif

Thanks

It is a registry edit, so you need to use the registry editor.

Assuming that you have Windows XP (don't know Vista, but it's probably the same)
click start, run, type regedit press enter or click OK.
The registry editor window opens. The left pane shows a treee structure, you open the branches by clicking on the +es.

So starting by clicking the + next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
navigate by clicking the pluses to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Roxio\Label Creator\9.0\Settings (for label creator) or to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Roxio\Creator Classic\9.0\Settings (for creator classic)

In the left pane click on the appropriate Settings key (folder icon). This shows its contents in the right handpane.

In the right hand pane, right click anywhere, click new, string value.
A new string value is created (ab type icon), with the name highlighted and ready to be renamed (or if the name is stuck, right click on it click rename). rename it to ProjectDir.
Right click on ProjectDir, click Modify. In the box that opens type the path to the folder you want Label Creator or Creator Classic to save its projects. Click OK.
Close registry editor.

The change is active next time you open label creator or creator classic.
If you make a mistake or change your mind, you can always go back to the Settings key, in the right hand pane, right click on ProjectDir, click delete.
