Good morning John,
I just upgrade from EMC 7 to EMC 9. I do a lot of family video editings and slideshows. I expected EMC 9 to run faster for editing either movies or slideshow but the process is still very slow with a lot of HDD accesses when I slice movies (preview?).
What are your recommendations, if any, for doing more in the RAM and less with the HDD.
Thanks.
Nick

See if this knowledge base article about EMC9 performing slowly helps.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, it didn't help. My disk is defrag at least once a week, and I launched EMC9 several times.
I have SATA drives (7200rpm) with more than 70% free space but while editing or previewing, EMC access non-stop the HDD. Cutting, slicing, and repositionning sequences become cumbersome because EMC reprocess the preview of the entire movie (I suppose).
Is it possible to either stop this previewing or ?? for improving the performance?
Thanks again for your help

I also experienced the roxiowatch tray using 33% of CPU whilst nothing was happening- seriuosly p*****d off customer who is not as computer literate as many seem to be. Added to that the feature I bought ECM9 for was to capture anolog video & burn to disc - I get a runtime error and cant even use that slowly !!! I want a refund -PJ
