another runtime error R6025 - Pure virtual function call

Do you people get the error reports sent to Microsoft for this product? I have between 40 and 60 reports in the last 2-3 days myself, Microsoft must be receiving tens of thousands every day for this release. Since others are doing a fine job at bashing the QA on this product, I'll just leave that alone for now. A sampling of the errors is pasted below the machine info, I've had dozens of others that aren't represented here. It's not just with the DVD editing, although that appears to be the worst, the photo editing is badly behaved POS too.
Again, When are you releasing some patch for this stuff?

I just received this new Dell E521 Machine Running the Roxio Media Creator LE. When I registered the Roxio software the Registration Wizard crashed, but the software appears to be registered. I ran the Roxio software updates and installed the update. Everything seemed to be OK.
The software began having this problem after I ran the Microsoft Windows Updates. The OS is Media Center. Once I installed all the Microsoft updates the problem started.
After doing some searches on the internet I found one person that was having the problem was able to make it go away if they uninstalled Windows Media Player 11 and went back to 10 or 9.
Could the problem be related to an incompatibility with WMP 11? That was one of the updates I installed.

Anyway, yes we get the error logs, yes we look at them, yes, all software is eventually patched. It is part of the nature of software and to deny that would be foolish on my part.

Please John. While it could be anything, could a Microsoft issue, it is your product that is highly unstable and you do appear to be in denial about that. The standard solution offered for apparently every issue raised is a long, procedural, technical, and painful uninstall and reinstall. That is a bug in your install, not a Microsoft issue. And when that support procedure fails to solve the problem, I post the results along with a new series of error messages and dumps. It is puzzling why you (or someone running the board) would delete that off the board. It was very civil, and provided you with additional information. The nature of the bug in the dumps appears to be yours, and deleting a post with that appears to be denial.

EMC 7.5 was running fine on my computer. I had worked maybe 40 hours on putting together a 35 minute highlight soccer DVD. I loaded EMC 9 because I thought it had enhanced features. What a mistake. My computer froze up. I am no computer expert, but I tried everything. I could not get EMC 7.5 to run again. Although my photos and video clips had not been moved from the file folders in MY DOCUMENTS, an error message appeared that the photos and videos could not be found. Where I had a video clip before in the editing window, I had a blue screen with a question mark.
I could not part with my computer long enough to take it to my IT guy to copy all my files and wipe my hard drive clean. That is what I had to do last year when I bought EMC 7.5. The computer froze up. After my IT guy cleaned my hard drive, everything worked well. Taking the computer to an expert to install, uninstall, clean, etc. is time consuming and expensive.
I purchased a new Dell laptop - arriving tomorrow. I ordered Roxio My DVD Plus (DVD +RW only it says) already installed. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will work if it comes installed because EMC 9 is headed for the trash. From all I have read, there are some serious issues. Too bad because EMC 7.5 did a good job after scores upon scores of hours of trying to figure it out.

You can right click on one of those question marks and point the software to where those pictures reside on your computer, even if you did not change the location. Try it, and see what happens.

I spent $99 on a piece of crap sofware that has never worked yet.
If I need to reformat and reinstall everytime I want to try to do something with ECM9 it simply is not worth the time and effort.
It looks to me like corporate greed forced a crappy program on the masses without full quality control and product testing. It seems to me that Roxio is using the more experienced users on this forum to actually test and fix bugs in their programs.
I am going to try to contact Roxio direct and see if they have any better solutions than "reformat and reinstall". If not, I guess I spent the money for a pretty box to sit on my shelf.....

Who are you directing this post to? I don't see any posts in this thread saying to reformat.

Yes my system exceeds the minimum requirements.
Windows XP Media Center Edition, SP2, all updates installed.
3.2 GHz Pentium D Processor
2GB Ram
GE Force 6600 OC PCI-Express Video Card, most current drivers.
Yes I have all the updated patches for my firmware, software, drivers, yes I do routine maintenance to rid spyware, maleware, viruses and defragging.
I have done the clean re-installation process, not once, but three times now. I have reformatted the PC twice, spent 2 hours on phone with customer support listening to a whole lot of silence and snot-snorting from the "tech" on the other end, and still no results.
As to the comment about reformatting and reinstalling, it pops up very frequently all over these boards ( http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?...ost&p=72089 for one example ) that it seems to be the blanket answer to any issue. This is just completely unacceptable.
I have now spent 15 hours of my life and $99 bucks on something that I will probably never get to function properly unless I completely reformat my PC and ONLY install the bare minimum of software/drivers on the machine.
One piece of information that I have yet to see anywhere on the boards is this:
Evidently you get 90 days of free support when you purchase this product.
Limited support hours though, and they immediately told me to, yup, you guessed it, reformat and reinstall ( Yes, John at Roxio, they actually suggested a reformat and clean install as a start ) rather than try to determine what the issue could be.
I hope somebody at Roxio senses my frustration and actually cares enough to offer a solution rather than "reformat and clean install". Those options do not work. I have been there and done that three times now.
To anybody else reading this....
Has anybody been successful at getting their money back when you purchased EMC9 from someplace other than Roxio? I bought mine at the BX (Base Exchange, Air Force version of Wal-Mart) and they don't accept opened software for returns. I am almost ready to go this route as the frustration is getting to me. All I wanted to do was edit out the commercials from the shows I recorded on my TiVo...and I got a lot of frustration and lost a lot of stuff from my PC in the first EMC9 melt-down.

It's clear Roxio either has no clue, doesn't care, or both. You'd have to have Grandpa's patience to even try to list all the GUI and functionality bugs encountered when it doesn't just flat crash.
In one of many vain attempts to try to get basic Roxio functionality working, bought the latest/greatest HP DVD drive, which only revealed another list of Roxio bugs. But, it came with a copy of Nero which I installed later, and that software actually works. And OMG, it actually has a rational GUI and feature set instead of dozens of ways to do the same thing and/or work around bugs in other pieces of Roxio software. I knew there had to be a good capitalist out there to take advantage of this fiasco called Easy Media Creator, and Nero appears to doing that. Also, I have gone back to Dell, and let them just what kind of OEM partner they have chosen when they loaded this stuff on their machines. Good luck on getting your money back...Larry

Uninstall/reinstall
Update drivers
Turn off antivirus/spyware
Turn off ZoneAlarm
Etc...etc...etc...!
I have also gone the lengths of formatting an spare external hard drive and installing the garbage there... with the SAME results. These are just a sample of some of the "errors" that I received:
1: "____________ has encountered an error, and will now close"
2: "Missing file C:\MediaExperience\CmDVDReg.exe\kcams"... which I obtained from another site, but still with no success.
3: Windows Installer REFUSED to stop opening whenever I tried to start the garbage.
4: After several clicks off of that infernal "windows install/setup" window, the splash screen for the garbage finally took me to the features screen. At that time, ANY feature that I attempted to use (VideoWave, Photos, Audio, etc.) was followed by the infamous "... experienced an error, and will now close" window!
5: While attempting to load one of the video features on the garbage, it was followed by a "Your videocard drivers are out of date. Please refer to your manufacturer's website", which I did, and upgraded my so-called out-of-date drivers... which did nothing!!
The bottom line for me is to take this garbage back to Costco, get another refund, and call it a day! I am finished!!
