I just purchased Roxio Media Creator 9, and the box advertises a "Desktop Capture Widget", which is says will "Instantly capture Internet radio, streaming music services, and any audio playing on your computer right from the desktop – featuring 'pre-roll' cache and “system sound mute.”  It even shows a picture of the widget on the box.  The Roxio web site also advertises this feature prominently.  The problem is:  I CAN"T FIND IT!  I did a complete install on my eMachines T2896 computer, and this widget is no where to be found.  It's also not mentioned anywhere in the printed manual, nor is it mentioned anywhere in the Help files.  Does anyone know what's up with that?  Is this a Mac-only feature?  (If so, it doesn't say that anywhere!)  Please HELP ...

Go to the Home page. Then in the applications, search for Easy Audio Capture. Is this the picture shown in the box?

I'll check later when I get home (it's not on my work computer).  Assuming that I do see the screen you've shown, then what?  This looks like a way to record from within the application, if it works on streaming audio as well as other sources.  What I was asking about was the "Desktop Wiget" -- it's a little mini-program that is always on the desktop, and has a record button to capture anything coming in on a streaming audio feed (internet radio, etc.)  It supposed to part of the Roxio suite, but I don't think you have to even open the main program to use it.  It just captures and saves the audio file for later use.  Am I wrong?

Here's a picture of what I'm looking for:

Capture all the audio you want.
New! Desktop capture widget helps you capture streaming Internet radio and music instantly.

Somehow it keeps getting edited, and things vanish.

In the Input dropdown box, select the "What U Hear" setting. Adjust the other settings as desired and press Record to capture the streaming audio.

It does not have to be launched from the Home Page. You can copy the shortcut of that program to the desktop so that you can launch it quickly from there.

I saw that one too on the web ad but haven't seen it in the suite yet. Hopefully, someone with that information stops by to provide answer.

Yes, the input will depend on the type of sound card. Look for input selection such as wave or stereo mix to capture audio from net.

What does that mean?  Are you suggesting that this wiget is hardware specific?  Why is there NO documentation anywhere, and why would they put a picture of this cool-looking little mini-program on the box and the web site with this blurb:  "New! Desktop capture widget helps you capture streaming Internet radio and music instantly."

Good question.  I'll let you know later when I get home.  Still, wouldn't that mean you still have to open the program from the main menu ... or could this Mini mode version stay on the desktop all the time, even when the rest of Roxio is closed?

Like you, I can only check when I get home. I suspect the widget behaves like the Windows Media Player (WMP) when it is in Mini mode. That is, you can just leave it on your desktop.

You are right on target Jess. On my EMC 9 when I bring up the home page and then click on "Easy Audio Capture" (either from the right side optional listings or the listings on the right side under the audio drop down screen) I get the first screen that you attached. I also get the small "Widget" Icon when I click on the middle icon in the upper right hand corner of the same screen This small Widget Icon will stay on my desktop and if I want to get back to the original audio capture screen, I just click on the middle icon that is in the upper right hand corner of the widget icon. I also get a small icon on the task bar that when right clicked on gives you a drop down menu with several different options. (i.e. Move, bring to front, load at startup, stay on top, minimize to tray on close, show tray icon, capture settings and exit)

I haven't tried using the audio capture feature but assume that if your optional setting are correct it should work.

Frank,

Thanks for the confirmation! Greatly appreciated.

It's one more discovery (the "widget") for me.

Frank: I just opened it from the site and did a screenshot since OP mentioned about User Guide which made me think,"Hmm, how about checking out the manual?". And voila, it's there.
