Great news about ROXIO DVDit PRO HD. Finally Blu Ray authoring at  a fair price, well done for starting the ball rolloing.
Pitty you haven't made sure about the HD acceptance of importing files.

I can't get DVDit PRO HD to accept the files I make with Canopus ProCoder 2 or Tmpeg. It will allow the video in but wants to transcode it afterwards using it's own encoder to make it compliant.

Unless I am doind something wrong? I am using targets of Mpeg2 1920X1080 PAL 25 fps HP@HL elementary streams.

Please Roxio fix this immediately, I don't want to use the encoder provided. Not to mention doubling up in transcoding time.

Please don't jump to assumptions too quickly.  The fact that the video is 1920x1080 and 25 fps and HP@HL does not necessarily mean that it is Blu-ray compliant.  In fact, as you navigate these Blu-ray and HD DVD streams need to be encoded differently even though they might share the characteristics you quoted.

If you would like me to take a look at a sample stream, I would be happy to run it through our verifier and let you know what is wrong with it.

If Procoder and TMPG do not have Blu-ray presets, chances are they do not put out Blu-ray legal streams.

You are probably right. I was just told ProCoder2 would make legit Mpeg2 HD files for Blu Ray, maybe not!!

How would I get a sample to you?

do you have an FTP site you can post the assets to so I can download them?  If so, send me a private message and we can take this offline.

Scott

****This is closed out.  The Procoder file was not Blu-ray legal****

I've been trying to join this forum for 3 days but see you've now found out there was a problem

the 1st thing I noticed is that your files were 25fps, as far as I'm aware 25 & 50 fps isn't supported by Blu-Ray or HD-DVD (noce of them to think globally isn't it?!) so you have to go with the american or film framerates

25 fps with 1080i is Bluray compliant, 1080p isn't...

really?
I've been told it's not (and I have some sony software with blu-print template that won't allow 25 or 50fps, just 24, 30 or 60)
If it is then that's very good news for me as I have an HC3E camcorder that records at 25i and I was thinking that I was going to have to convert all my home movies to a different framerate (I know I have to make them 1920x1080)

cheers for the info

You can see the info concering 25fps in the DVDit Pro HD manual which you can download. You will see it on page 65... If you have Premiere Pro 2 you can capture the footage and import them as .mpg to DVDit Pro HD.
DVDit will transcode them and it works properly on a panasonic dmp-bd10... (capturing and importing then to DVDit from Sony software will not work as i have tried...)

We have since found a way to make compliant ProCoder Mpeg2 HD files. There's no inbuilt template but I have a PCP file that I can email to anyone who want to use it.

And the SONY template for Blu Ray is only 60i, however you can simply change the target to 50i and it works fine in DVDitPRO HD- no transcoding. Then save it as new PAL template. Typical SONY, think there isn't need for PAL users. :)

& thanks to pixel for the premiere tip, I've always used premiere in the past but for my first HDV edit thought I'd give Vegas a try, guess I'll go back to premiere now!

I am in Pal land as well and using Procoder 2. Can you please forward the PCP file to my e-mail address andy@aquapix.tv.

Thanks
