Hi,

I purchased Creator 9 because it said specifically that I could edit files recorded on my Tivo with it and burn them to DVD. Yet when I try to open a Tivo file that I have moved to my computer to edit in VideoWave 9, I get a message saying:

'One or more files you are trying to add are protected by Digital Rights Management, and have not been added.'

(I'm only trying to open one file)

This happens with shows from a dozen different channels. What is going on and how do I open these files?

EMC 9 or any Roxio product will not break the DRM protection placed on  TiVo recording. Do google search on Tivo and DRM and you will see that this is turning into a big problem and may be turning people away from Tivo.

If this is true, now can Roxio say that EMC9 'Supports TiVo Recordings' (quote taken directly from their page http://www.roxio.com...ures.html#video) and on the box I purchased.

Good Morning Arayana,
Make sure that you have install Tivo Desktop from Tivo's Website.  If you already have it installed you might try re-installing it.  I use EMC9 to create DVD's from Tivo and it is working fine for me, but you must have Tivo's software installed for EMC9 to decode the .tivo files.

Hi Brian,

Many thanks for the simple thing to try and telling me EMC9 does work for what I want to do. I don't know what went wrong the first time, but I uninstalled Tivo Desktop, re-downloaded it and installed it again, and now everything works great. I had no problems opening any of the files. Thank you very much.

Were you able to edit out the commercials from the TiVo file or did you just burn them to a DVD?

I was able to edit the commercials (and other unwanted bits) out.
