I am currently using EMC 8 with all upgrades installed, using a Lite-on DVD-RW SHM-165H6S drive.

When I copy any type of disc (cd, dvd), whether finalised or not, the copy process will copy only the TOC, not the entire contents of the disc (note that the ones I am trying to copy are my photo collections and therefore are not copy protected).

Does anyone have any ideas on this one?  :)

Are you using Disc Copier or the Copy Disc function from the Home menu?  Whichever you're using, try the other and see what happens.
FWIW, I've got the same drive and using EMC9, haven't run into this problem.  You do have the latest firmware installed for it, don't you???????

I have applied the latest firmware updates, however the problem still exists.

I have tried to use both the copier on the home screen and the separate application to no avail.

What happens is the copier will read only the TOC of the original disc, not the full contents.  It then asks me to insert a blank disk.  It appears to write everything, but the result is that only "ghost" files are written (ie. the folder/finle structures are present but are empty/corrupted).

Try changing media brand/type.

I wonder what would happen if you copied the disc as an ISO file to your hard drive to burn back to a disc.  See if you still have the same problems.

If I copy the disc to an ISO file first, it will work fine.  It appears that it doesn't like direct disc-to-disc copy.

Yes it does but at least the work around is successful.  Don't know why the standard copy disc process won't work.

You have two, (using a Lite-on DVD-RW SHM-165H6S drive) drives? Is that how you are trying to copy disc-to-disc? Or are we caching the files to the HD to copy, with one drive?

Well I never do that and maybe there is a reason why! I would always burn from a ISO or file from the Hard Drive. You never said how large the disc's you tried to copy were? Something on or in your system is not allowing that caching to a temp file and burning in a proper way.
