I have recently purchased EMC 9 in hopes of creating slideshows of the digital pix I have taken for friends and family to enjoy, especially my cousin's wedding. I have become familiar with the software and I am able to create a basic slideshow and add audio, special effects, and alter some of the transitions and the preview looks suitable. It is when I click on the burn button and select any one of the options, burn to disc - create iso file - or create a folder set, that the render screen just stays black and the progress bars don't move or update.
I have read a lot about IE7 being a possible problem but do not understand how an IE is affecting the software when rendering. I have already updated my CD/DVD driver and the Roxio engine, from the Roxio help. I am using Fujifilm DVD-R discs, I have used these discs successfully with EMC 6 for backing up my pix onto CD or DVD. My computer is as follows: Gateway with AMD Athlon 64 Processor, 2.41GHz, 200GB hard drive, 896MB RAM, and using Windows XP - Service Pack 2.
I am very dissapointed with the whole process. I really thought this would be an almost install and use type of software package. I have read others are not having all of these problems so I wonder what I may be doing wrong. The computer I have is new this year and I am not doing anything extravagant, I believe, with these slideshows. Please do not beat me up too much if it is something simple that I missed or need to install, upgrade, or select.
I have spent hours trying to do things differently and get this thing to burn and to no success. Any informative response would be greatly appreciated and hopefully enlightne me to the error of my ways.
Thanks

That symptom can usually be resolved by installing the latest drivers for your video card/adapter. If you already have the latest installed, uninstall them, reboot, then re-install them.
Thanks Larry. I will give it a try later today and let you know how it goes. Thanks for the reply and have a good holiday.

I Finally got my software to work!!!! I had to go to the "RUN" option in the "Start" menu and type in "dxdiag" to determine the age of my graphics driver in the display tab. It turns out my driver was dated back to 2005! Once I downloaded the proper driver and uninstalled the old and then installed the new there came a message about new hardware found : the SM Bus Controller. So I had to type in my computer make and model and then SMBus Controller after it to find a motherboard drivers downloadable package to install on my computer to get the computer happy again.
After all of this I ran the software and was able to render several digital slideshows and so far everyrthing is going great! If there is any further news or updates for other snafus I will be sure to come back and add another reply. Take care and happy creating!

Thanks for letting us know. Just not sure what the SMBus Controller has to do with the video driver. Sounds like you had another problem that also got fixed.
