I want to make sure I am expecting the correct performance from DVDit 6 from Sonic. I got it with the AVID Media Composer Software. When I try to play the imported Video I can see the timeline counter at the top of the screen count normally, but the Video doesn.t move (Maybe a frame or two every 30 seconds). The sound seems to come and go. If I stop it, it takes about 20 - 30 seconds to update the frame to the correct Video frame.
I noticed that my CPU is at the Max also. I'm not to sure this is normal, should I be able to play the Video without any delay?
I'm running a XW8200 HP Wprkstation with Dual 3.6GHz Xeon Processors on Windows XPP SP2, with 4G Mem and an FX3450 Graphic Card. The Video was imported by the QT Reference file with the XML for chapter marks. All seemed OK on import.

Thanks,
Mig

No, something is wrong there, check task manager- what processes are running. I have a Prescott 3.2E on an i875 moBo with 2 gig ram with an ATI X850 vid card and experience no problems or delay with the preview window.

I experienced the same problem with AVID Xpress Pro HD. The problem seems to be that DVDit Pro V6 does not handle QT Reference Movies well. I had no such problem when previously using DVDit 2.5. I changed to importing QT Movies into V6 (not Reference Movies) and the problem went away! It works fine now in both Preview and Simulation mode. Good luck.

I have two more projects to burn this next week. I'll post another reply when I figure out how to get it to work again. One of the projects is about 3 hours long.

Thanks
:)

It seems that the Elementary Stream works fine and displays corrrectly. But if I use the Program Stream it will not display the correct size or let me work without a big delay in updating the video.

Moved everything to Elementary Streams added the audio and I now get:

internal software error: .\TranscodeVideo.cpp, line 200 -2

when I try to burn the project. I added a seperate post for this. Besides not being able to burn or output the project in anyway - everything works great.

I've had both problems you describe for years and, with difficulty, dealt with them. I use AVID Xpress Pro HD and Sonic's DvdIt Pro 6 (not the better version from Avid). The replies posted earlier are correct in my experience. You cannot import QT Reference files or Program Streams. Either QT Movies or Elementary Streams should work. But there is one more problem that can stop you and I have never figured out exactly what it is. When I separately import audio streams into a pre-existing project or replace an audio stream in an existing project (i.e. leave the video alone but add a second audio stream or replace the audio stream with a different file), sometimes I find that the project won't transcode or burn. The only solution I have found is to start all over with a clean project. Rebuild your menus (big pain!). Import in your video stream and your audio stream(s) into a clean project. Save it and burn. This has always worked for me. Good luck.

I quit using DVDit with version 5. I tried 6, and it was also worthless.
It's been 5 years, but I'm still pretty pissed that I paid Sonic around $200 for essentially non-working software.  angry.gif

DVDit 2.5 was excellent software, but future upgrades were more like downgrades. I got most aggravated by DVDit 5 refusing to acknowledge complaint DVD-Video MPEG-2 encodes, a flaw shared in DVDit 6

For DVD authoring, I moved on to Ulead DVD Workshop 2, which actually did all the things DVDit 5 and 6 promised, but without grief and errors. Ulead was bought by Corel, but you can still buy DVDWS2 from B&H. Links for using it, buying it, etc at http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/showthread...d-dvd-1506.html

Roxio has had it's fair share of software quality issues, but at least this one isn't their fault, they just bought it.  glare.gif

I suggest you just delete DVDit 6 and move on to better apps.
